Professional Darts Corporation
The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) is a professional darts organisation in the United Kingdom, established in 1992 when a group of leading players split from the British Darts Organisation (BDO) to form what was initially called the World Darts Council (WDC). Sports promoter Eddie Hearn is the PDC chairman. The PDC developed and holds several competitions, including the annual PDC World Darts Championship, the World Matchplay (darts), World Matchplay, World Grand Prix (darts), World Grand Prix, UK Open, Premier League Darts, Premier League, and Grand Slam of Darts, Grand Slam. WDC UK Masters
The WDC UK Masters, also known as the Lada UK Masters, was a professional darts tournament held from 1992 to 1994. It is notable for being the first tournament staged by the World Darts Council, which later became the Professional Darts Corporation, without any involvement from the sport's governing body, the British Darts Organisation, and was thus another important step towards the eventual split in darts. The tournament was sponsored by car manufacturer Lada and broadcast on Anglia Television. It used the "equal darts" format, whereby once a winning double was hit, the other player would have the opportunity to tie the leg by finishing in the same number of darts. Stuart Kellett
Stuart Kellett (born 12 August 1981) is an English darts player. BDO career Kellett reached the last 16 of the 2007 Winmau World Masters, having beaten Andy Fordham among others on the way to the televised stages. He lost 1-3 in sets to the then BDO world champion Martin Adams. He also qualified for the 2008 Zuiderduin Masters, losing both of his group games to Mareno Michels and Darryl Fitton. In 2010, Kellett won both the Scottish Open and the Antwerp Open. His good run of form helped him to qualify for the 2010 Winmau World Masters as the second seed. He knocked out Tony West in the last 16, before defeating Ted Hankey and Martin Phillips (both in sudden-death legs) to reach the final. Steve West (darts Player)
Steve West (born 5 June 1975) is an English darts player. He is the younger brother of 2003 World Master Tony West. BDO career West showed signs of a promising career quickly by reaching the final of the 2005 French Open, losing to local Dominique le Roy. He also reached the last 32 of the 2005 World Masters where he lost to Gary Anderson. In 2007, West reached another Open final in the 2007 Dutch Open, one of the BDO's biggest Open tournaments. Amongst his scalps were Dutchmen Co Stompé and Edwin Max before losing in the final to Scott Waites. Tony West (born 7 July 1972) is an English former professional darts player. Darts career BDO career Winmau World Masters West's biggest successes have come at the Winmau World Masters. Dean Winstanley
Dean Winstanley (born 10 February 1981) is an English professional darts player. He first took up darts as a two-year-old, stopped playing at the age of 12, and then started playing again when he was 22. Ted Hankey
Edward Hankey (born 20 February 1968) is an English former professional darts player and convicted sex offender. Nicknamed "The Count", he won the BDO World Darts Championship in 2000 and 2009 and was runner-up in 2001. He moved to the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) in 2012 but suffered a mini-stroke while playing Michael van Gerwen at the 2012 Grand Slam of Darts and took three months away from the sport to recuperate. He lost his PDC tour card in 2014, when he was 94th on the PDC Order of Merit, and returned to the BDO, where he failed to impress in the latter years of his playing career. He made his last appearance at the BDO World Darts Championship in 2016, losing 3–0 in the first round. Hankey struggled financially in his later career and was declared bankrupt in 2018. Mervyn King (born 15 March 1966) is an English professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He formerly competed in British Darts Organisation (BDO) tournaments. Nicknamed The King, he reached seven PDC premier event finals and a peak ranking of world number four in the PDC Order of Merit.
