Proem-Aid
Proem-Aid ('Professional Emergency Aid') is a Spanish NGO which operates in the Mediterranean Sea with the aims of aiding and rescuing those in distress on the water. It was formed by a group of emergency service workers who volunteered their time and expertise, and initially operated off Lesbos beginning in December 2015 before also starting an operation in the central Mediterranean in September 2017. Projects and vessels Since 2016 the organisation has collaborated with the Sea-Watch organisation to run the LifeLine project. Life (ship)
The ship ''Life'' is a former fishing cutter, which was used in the Mediterranean from 2017 to 2018 under the name ''Seefuchs'' for the Sea-Eye association from Regensburg as a rescue ship between Malta and Libya. In 2019 the ship was given away to the Spanish organisation Proem-Aid. In 2021, the ship was intercepted in international waters with a large drug load after being bought by drug dealers, in a joint investigation by the Guardia Civil and the Servicio de Vigilancia Aduanera. Before she was used as a rescue ship, the ''Seefuchs'' was based in the museum harbor in Greifswald for many years as a museum or traditional ship. Alan Kurdi (ship)
''Alan Kurdi'', named after the drowned Syrian child of Kurdish origin, Aylan Kurdi, is a ship which has been used since 2018 by the humanitarian organization Sea-Eye - under the German flag - for the rescue of migrants in the Mediterranean Sea. Before this, she was an oceanographic vessel operated by the Land of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, named ''Professor Albrecht Penck''. The Mediterranean Sea is a sea connected to the Atlantic Ocean, surrounded by the Mediterranean Basin and almost completely enclosed by land: on the north by Western and Southern Europe and Anatolia, on the south by North Africa, and on the east by the Levant. Lesbos
Lesbos or Lesvos ( el, Λέσβος, Lésvos ) is a Greek island located in the northeastern Aegean Sea. It has an area of with approximately of coastline, making it the third largest island in Greece. Sea-Watch
Sea-Watch is a German non-governmental organisation that operates in the Mediterranean Sea, notably by commissioning ships to rescue migrants. History On 6 November 2017, the crew of a Sea-Watch ship rescued 58 people in an operation hindered by the Libyan Navy. Twenty other people drowned. Video footage that implicated the Libyan Coast Guard was later used in legal action against Italy in the European Court of Human Rights. 2018 The ship ''Sea-Watch'' resumed her operations in November 2018 after it was detained in Malta between July and October. Sea-Eye is a German non-governmental organization headquartered in Regensburg. It participates in the rescue of migrants in distress in the Mediterranean, in particular by having chartered the ships '' Sea-Eye'' and '' Seefuchs/ Sea Fox'' until August 2017, then the '' Alan Kurdi'' (named in memory of the young Syrian found drowned on a Turkish beach in 2015) and since August 2020 the ''Sea-Eye 4''. Olbia

RESQ (people Saving People)
ResQ-People Saving People is an Italian NGO with the aim of improving the lot of refugees and migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea to Italy. It was formed in Milan and from an early stage aspired to support a rescue ship sailing off the Italian coast. Among the organisation's staff is Cecilia Strada. The organisation acquired the vessel '' Alan Kurdi'' (formerly the oceanographic vessel ''Professor Albrecht Penck'') in July 2021 and renamed the ship '' Resq People''; it began operating on rescue missions on 7 August 2021. That month, in one operation it brought 166 rescued people to Sicily.
