Product Development And Management Association
The Product Development and Management Association (PDMA) is a non-profit professional society that organizes and publishes information about the development of new products. Founded in 1976, they currently have about 3500 members worldwide, with 22 chapters in the United States and 16 affiliates in other parts of the world, including India. PDMA operates a training program leading to the New Product Development Professional (NPDP) certification. In business and engineering, new product development (NPD) covers the complete process of bringing a new product (business), product to market, renewing an existing product or introducing a product in a new market. A central aspect of NPD is product design, along with various business considerations. New product development is described broadly as the transformation of a market opportunity into a product available for sale.
