Prix Robert-Cliche
The Prix Robert-Cliche is a literary prize created in 1979 to honour Robert Cliche, a Quebec lawyer, judge and politician. The prize is awarded annually for an original French language work by a Canadian author who has not previously published a novel. The manuscript must contain at least 30,000 words. Robert Cliche
Robert (12 April 1921 – 15 September 1978) was a Canadian lawyer, politician and judge. Biography Born and raised in Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce, in the Beauce region of Quebec, Robert Cliche studied law at Laval University from 1941 to 1944. Danielle Trussart
Danielle Trussart (born December 3, 1948) is a visual artist and writer living in Quebec, Canada. She was born in Montreal, Quebec. Trussart received her teaching certificate from the École normale Jacques-Cartier and went on to study Quebec studies, adult education and special education at the Université de Montréal and the Université du Québec à Montréal. She co-founded an alternative school at Saint-Jérôme and taught at an alternative school in Sainte-Thérèse. She also took workshops in visual arts. Since 1993, she has lived at Baie-Saint-Paul where she operated an inn. Trussart established a small publishing house to distribute her own illustrations of Quebec folk songs. Roxanne Bouchard (born 1972) is a Canadian writer and educator from Quebec. She is best known for her series of maritime crime fiction novels centred on the investigations of detective Joaquin Moralès in Quebec's Gaspé Peninsula. Reine-Aimée Côté (born November 20, 1948) is a Canadian writer living in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec. She was born in Villebois and earned a bachelor's degree in literary studies from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. Côté taught school at the primary and secondary levels in Alma for 35 years; from 1998 to 1999, she was advisor for French education at the junior high level. She retired from teaching in 2002. Gilles Jobidon
The Gilles are the oldest and principal participants in the Carnival of Binche in Belgium. They go out on Shrove Tuesday from 4 am until late hours and dance to traditional songs. Other cities, such as La Louvière and Nivelles, have a tradition of Gilles at carnival, but the Carnival of Binche is by far the most famous. She was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec and received a bachelor's degree in French language instruction (secondary school) from Laval University.
