Prix Iris Tribute Award
The Iris Tribute Award (french: Prix Iris Hommage) is an annual award presented by Québec Cinéma, as part of its Prix Iris program, as a lifetime achievement award for distinguished accomplishments in the Cinema of Quebec.Paul Townend and Maurie Alioff"Prix Iris" ''The Canadian Encyclopedia'', April 5, 2010. Until 2016, it was known as the Jutra Hommage, presented as part of the Jutra Awards. It was renamed from Jutra to Iris, alongside the entire Prix Iris program, when Québec Cinéma stripped the name of film director Claude Jutra from its awards program in 2016. The Prix Iris name was announced in October 2016. Québec Cinéma is a Canadian organization based in Quebec, whose mission is to promote and develop the Cinema of Quebec. Rock Demers
Rock Demers, (December 11, 1933August 17, 2021) was a Canadian film producer. He was the founder of the film company ''Les Productions la Fête'' and produced the '' Tales for All'' film series for children. Early life Demers was born in Sainte-Cécile-de-Lévrard, Quebec, on December 11, 1933. He was raised in rural Quebec, and described his childhood as "very poor, but very happy". He initially studied to become a teacher, before obtaining a diploma in audio-visual technology at the École Normale de St. Cloud in Paris. He then travelled around Europe and Asia for two years, during which he became acquainted with Vojta Jasny, Břetislav Pojar, and Krzysztof Zanussi. Fernand Dansereau
Fernand Dansereau (born April 5, 1928) is a Canadian film director and film producer. Biography After five years working as a reporter for the Montreal daily Le Devoir, Dansereau joined the NFB in 1955. He was a founding member of the NFB's French Unit and until 1960, he wrote and directed several feature films and documentaries for the series ''Panorama''. He worked on the television series ''Temps présent'' from 1960 to 1964 and then returned to directing with the fiction feature ''Le festin des morts'' which won 2 Canadian Film Awards including Best Feature Film in 1966. Jean-Claude Labrecque
Jean-Claude Labrecque, (June 19, 1938 – May 31, 2019) was a director and cinematographer who learned the basics of filmmaking at the National Film Board of Canada. Career Jean-Claude Labrecque was born in Quebec City, Quebec, and trained as a camera assistant at the NFB. As a cinematographer, he shot many of the early key films of Claude Jutra (''À tout prendre''), Michel Brault ('' Entre la mer et l’eau douce''), Gilles Carle ('' La vie heureuse de Léopold Z''), Gilles Groulx ('' Le Chat dans le sac'') and Don Owen (''Notes for a Film About Donna and Gail'', '' The Ernie Game''). Pierre Curzi
Pierre Curzi (born February 11, 1946 in Montreal, Quebec) is an actor, screenwriter and politician in Quebec. He is a former Member of the National Assembly of Quebec (MNA) for the riding of Borduas in the Montérégie region south of Montreal. Elected under the Parti Québécois (PQ) banner, he later sat as an independent. Politics Curzi entered politics when he announced his candidacy for the riding of Borduas in the 2007 provincial elections, following the retirement of Jean-Pierre Charbonneau. He defeated the Action démocratique du Québec's Claude Gauthier by over 2,000 votes. He was later named the PQ critic for culture, communications and language. Denise Filiatrault, (born May 16, 1931) is a Canadian actress and director. Biography Filiatrault attained star status on TV in the 1960s, co-starring with Dominique Michel in the Radio-Canada television series '' Moi et l'autre'' (1967–71) and in many editions of Radio-Canada's annual New Year's special, '' Bye Bye''. Michel Brault
Michel Brault, OQ (25 June 1928 – 21 September 2013) was a Canadian cinematographer, cameraman, film director, screenwriter, and film producer. He was a leading figure of Direct Cinema, characteristic of the French branch of the National Film Board of Canada in the 1960s. Brault was a pioneer of the hand-held camera aesthetic.
