Prix Idola Saint-Jean
The Prix Idola Saint-Jean is a prize awarded by the Fédération des femmes du Québec to recognize a woman or group of women who have made a significant contribution to improve conditions for women and to advance feminism in Quebec. It was first awarded in 1991. The prize was named in honour of Idola Saint-Jean, who helped gain the right to vote for women in Quebec. Fédération Des Femmes Du Québec
The Fédération des femmes du Québec (FFQ; English: "Quebec Women's Federation") is a feminist organization binding individuals and groups in a common goal to "promote and defend the interests and the rights of women and to fight against all forms of violence, discrimination, marginalization and exclusion towards women" in Quebec, Canada. History The FFQ was founded in 1966 at the initiative of Thérèse Casgrain, a human rights activist and leading feminist who contributed greatly to the achievement of women suffrage in Quebec. From the beginning, the FFQ organized symposiums, conferences, information campaigns, prepared memoirs and spoke for the interests of women in all tribunes, especially parliamentary and government consultations. Between 1992 and 2002, associative membership rose from 60 to 160 organizations and individual membership from 100 to 860. Micheline Dumont
Micheline Aline Dumon (20 May 1921 – 16 November 2017), (code names Lily and Michou), was a member of the Belgian Resistance during World War II with the Comet Line (Réseau Comète). Her surname often appears misspelled as "Dumont" in historical sources. She was awarded the British George Medal and United States Medal of Freedom for helping allied airmen shot down over Belgium and France evade capture and imprisonment by Nazi Germany. As a member of the Comet Line, founded by Andrée de Jongh, she aided in the escape of more than 250 allied airmen. She guided downed airmen from Belgium and France to the border of neutral Spain from where they could be repatriated to Great Britain. Dumon, despite her youth, was one of the Comet Lines most experienced and longest-serving members. In 1944, she unmasked a German infiltrator, Jacques Desoubrie, who had been responsible for the arrests of many Comet Line members.
