Prism Comics
Prism Comics is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that promotes awareness of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) creators, stories, characters, and readers in the comics industry. It does this through informational booths and programming at comic conventions, print and online guides to LGBT creators and comics, and the annual Queer Press Grant to assist publication of new LGBT-themed work. Prism Comics incorporated in April 2003 in the state of Georgia, and received its 501(c)(3) charitable status shortly thereafter. The organization was initially composed of a small number of comics fans and professionals from across the United States who had volunteered on an annual publication called ''Out in Comics'', which was a listing of LGBT creators in comics that ran for three issues. Dave Davenport (cartoonist)
David W. Davenport (February 20, 1890 – October 16, 1954), was a professional baseball player who played pitcher in the Major Leagues from 1914 to 1919. Davenport went on to play for the Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Terriers, and the St. Louis Browns. He led the Federal League in strikeouts in 1915 while playing for the St. Louis Terriers. Davenport's Major League career was ended after he was involved in a scuffle with Browns manager Jimmy Burke, after being absent from the team in early September. He was fined $100 and suspended without pay for the rest of the season. Dave Davenport's .092 batting average in 1915 is the worst ever by a player with at least 140 plate appearances. Hazel Newlevant
Hazel Newlevant is an American cartoonist and editor known for creating and editing comics about queer history, bisexuality, polyamory, and reproductive rights. Raised in Portland, Oregon, Newlevant lives in Queens, New York. Career Newlevant's thesis project for the School of Visual Arts was a comic about Harlem Renaissance blues singer and drag performer Gladys Bently called ''If This Be Sin''. The comic won the 2013 Queer Press Grant from Prism Comics. In 2016, Newlevant edited and self-published the comics anthology ''Chainmail Bikini,'' which collects experiences of female and nonbinary gamers. The name of the collection refers to the "chainmail bikini" trope, criticizing to the over-sexualization of female character design in video games. ''O Human Star'' is a science fiction webcomic by Blue Delliquanti. Synopsis ''O Human Star'' follows Alastair "Al" Sterling, the person who invented the modern robot. Sixteen years after Al dies, his mind is put into a synthetic replica of his human body. The world now is populated with robots living alongside humans. Al finds his old business partner and lover, Brendan, who has built their company into the world's largest tech company, and meets Sulla, the first humanoid robot, who was made with a copy of Al's mind but has chosen a female body. Robert Kirby (; born 1962) is an American cartoonist, known for his long-running syndicated comic ''Curbside'' – which ran in the gay and alternative presses from 1991 to 2008 – and other works focusing on queer characters and community, including ''Strange Looking Exile'', ''Boy Trouble'', ''THREE'', and ''QU33R.'' Jon Macy is a gay American cartoonist. He began his career in 1990 with the series ''Tropo'' published September 1990 – April 1992 by Blackbird Comics. Since then, he has contributed to various LGBT comics anthologies and gay pornographic magazines, but he is best known for his graphic novel ''Teleny and Camille'', which won a 2010 Lambda Literary Award for Gay Erotica.
