Priory Belle
Priory Belle (10 April 1993 – after 2005) was an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. She showed her best form as a two-year-old in 1995 when she won two of her three races including the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes. She failed to win in three starts in 1996 and was retired to become a broodmare. She had some success as a dam of winners, with the last of her foals being born in 2005. Background Priory Belle was a chestnut mare bred in Ireland by Tom Lacy. During her racing career he was trained by Jim Bolger and raced in the colours of the County Kilkenny-based Ballylinch Stud. She was ridden in all but one of her races by Kevin Manning. She was from the first crop of foals sired by Priolo, a top-class miler who won the Prix Jean Prat, Prix Jacques Le Marois and Prix du Moulin. Priolo (horse)
Priolo (foaled March 17, 1987 in the United States) was a French Thoroughbred horse racing, racehorse. He was bred and raced by Chryss Goulandris, Chryss Goulandris' Ecurie Skymarc Farm. In 1990 he won two Group One races and ran second to Saumarez (horse), Saumarez in the Grand Prix de Paris. Sent to Belmont Park in the United States, he was third behind winner Royal Academy (horse), Royal Academy and runnerup, Itsallgreektome in the 1990 Breeders' Cup Mile. In 1991, Priolo won his third Group One event, capturing the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp. Retired from racing, in December 1991, Priolo was sent to stand at stud (animal), stud in Ireland. Prix Minerve
The Prix Minerve is a Group 3 flat horse race in France open to three-year-old thoroughbred fillies. It is run at Deauville over a distance of 2,500 metres (about 1 mile and 4½ furlongs), and it is scheduled to take place each year in August. History The event is named after Minerva, the Roman goddess of crafts and wisdom. It was established in 1925, and it was originally called the Prix ''de'' Minerve. It was initially staged at Le Tremblay with a distance of 2,000 metres. The race was abandoned in 1940, and for a period thereafter it was contested over 2,100 metres at Maisons-Laffitte (1941–43) and Auteuil (1944). It returned to Le Tremblay in 1945, and its former distance was restored in 1946. It was held at Longchamp from 1948 to 1950, and on the last two occasions it was run over 2,100 metres. Leopardstown Racecourse
Leopardstown Racecourse is an Ireland, Irish horse-racing venue, located in Leopardstown, Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, 8 km south of the Dublin city centre. Like the majority of Irish courses, it hosts both National Hunt and Flat racing. The course, built by Captain George Quin and modelled on Sandown Park Racecourse in England, was completed in 1888 and acquired by the Horse Racing Ireland, Horse Racing Board of Ireland in 1967. Many important races are held here and racing takes place all year round, with about 22 meetings per year. The Debutante Stakes is a Group 2 flat horse race in Ireland open to two-year-old thoroughbred fillies. It is run at the Curragh over a distance of 7 furlongs (1,408 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in August. History The event was formerly held at Phoenix Park, and it used to be contested over 6 furlongs. For a period it was classed at Group 3 level. It was transferred to the Curragh and relegated to Listed status in 1991. It was moved to Leopardstown and extended to 7 furlongs in 1994. The Debutante Stakes returned to the Curragh in 2000, and it regained Group 3 status in 2001. It was promoted to Group 2 level in 2004, and it continued at the Curragh until 2005. A horse length, or simply length, is a unit of measurement for the length of a horse from nose to tail, approximately . Chriselliam
Chriselliam (2 February 2011 – 7 February 2014) was an Irish-bred British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. In 2013 she won two of her five races in Europe, establishing herself as one of the leading British-trained fillies of her generation by winning the Fillies' Mile. She was then sent to the United States in November where she recorded a decisive win in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. She was awarded the title of Cartier Champion Two-year-old Filly and was officially rated the best two-year-old filly in Europe. She died in February 2014 after contracting a bacterial infection.
