The Printworks (Manchester)
The Printworks is an urban entertainment venue offering a cinema, clubs and eateries, located on the corner of Withy Grove and Corporation Street in Manchester city centre, England. Original print works The Printworks entertainment venue is located on the revamped Withy Grove site of the business premises of the 19th century newspaper proprietor Edward Hulton, established in 1873 and later expanded. Hulton's son Sir Edward Hulton expanded his father's newspaper interests and sold his publishing business based in London and Manchester to Lord Beaverbrook and Lord Rothermere when he retired in 1923. Most of the Hulton newspapers were sold again soon afterwards to the Allied Newspapers consortium formed in 1924 (renamed Kemsley Newspapers in 1943 and bought by Roy Thomson in 1959). Printworks (London)
Printworks is a nightclub and events venue in Rotherhithe, South London. It is located in the former Harmsworth Quays printing plant, which printed newspapers including the ''Daily Mail'' and ''Evening Standard'' until 2012. Some features of the printing plant have been retained including the van loading dock and metal stairs, creating an industrial feel in the club. The premises has an overall capacity of 6,000 people across two performance rooms: the Press Halls and Inkwells (Formally known as the Darkroom). The site is also available for hire and has been used for events, movies and commercials. Artists, music and perception The venue opened in 2017 with an event by Seth Troxler, The Martinez Brothers and Loco Dice. It primarily focuses on electronic music, but has also been host to other genres such as orchestral music.
