Princeton Community High School is a four-year comprehensive secondary school in Princeton, Indiana, Princeton, Indiana. The high school is a part of the North Gibson School Corporation. Until March 2016, the school operated a television station, W06BD, from studios at the high school. Princeton Community is the second largest of the three high schools serving Gibson County, Indiana. The others are Gibson Southern High School, Gibson Southern, which is larger, and Waldo J. Wood Memorial Jr/Sr High School, Wood Memorial, which is smaller. History Princeton Community High School was opened in the early 1970s to replace old Princeton High School, which became crowded due to the public school consolidations of the previous few decades. Princeton is the largest city in and the county seat of Patoka Township, Gibson County, Indiana, United States. The population was 8,301 at the 2020 United States Census, and it is part of the greater Evansville, Indiana, Metropolitan Area. History In 1800, the Indiana Territory was created with Vincennes (Knox County) as its capital. The rich farmlands in the southwest of the territory with access to the Ohio River attracted many pioneers and settlers to the area, one of whom was an Irish immigrant named William Prince. Born in 1772, he immigrated to America at the age of 22. He later became a Gibson County Commissioner and the county seat of Princeton is named after him. Big Eight Conference (IHSAA)
The Big Eight Conference was an athletic conference of IHSAA Class AAA high schools located in Southwestern Indiana. The conference members were small city-based schools located in Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Posey, and Warrick counties in Indiana and once included Wabash County in Illinois. The conference ceased operations with the 2019-20 Winter Season as the final spring season was canceled because of the 2020 Coronavirus Outbreak. Jackie Young (born September 16, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for the Las Vegas Aces of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She was drafted first overall by the Las Vegas Aces in the 2019 WNBA draft. A graduate of Princeton Community High School, she played college basketball for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, reaching two NCAA finals and winning one in 2018. Gary Brian Denbo (born December 9, 1960) is a former American baseball front office executive. He was the director of player development and scouting for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB). Previously, he served as a hitting coach for the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays of MLB and for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters of Nippon Professional Baseball. He has also worked in the Yankees' front office. Playing career Denbo attended Princeton Community High School in Princeton, Indiana, and Oakland City University in Oakland City, Indiana.
