Kálnoky Family
The Kálnoky family is a noble family originating from the Kingdom of Hungary. The Kálnoky family history can be traced back to medieval times. History In 1252 the family was documented in Székely Land, in the eastern part of Transylvania, as ''comes'' (chief) of the Szekler 'Sepsi' tribe. Since their first documentation, the family have been ''primores'' (magnates) of the Szekler people in Transylvania. They are styled as Count Kálnoky Baron of Kőröspatak since 1697 when Sámuel Kálnoky (1640–1706) was chancellor of Transylvania at the court of Vienna. At the beginning of the 18th century, through multiple marriages, the Kálnokys became close to Prince Constantin Brancoveanu, ruler of Wallachia. An entire generation grew up in Bucharest at the prince's court, and held public functions there. Archduke Karl Ferdinand of Austria (Vienna, 29 July 1818 – Gross Seelowitz ( Židlochovice Castle), 20 November 1874) was the second son of Archduke Charles, Duke of Teschen (1771–1847) and Princess Henrietta of Nassau-Weilburg, and the maternal grandfather of King Alfonso XIII of Spain. A son of the " hero of Aspern", he started his military career in Infantry Regiment 57 in Brno. Later, he received command of a brigade in Italy and fought against the insurgents in Prague in 1848. In 1859, he was a general in Moravia and Silesia and returned to Brno in 1860. He became a lieutenant field marshal of the Austrian Army. Emanuel, Hereditary Prince Of Salm-Salm
The Principality of Salm (german: Fürstentum Salm; french: Principauté de Salm) was a state of the Holy Roman Empire. It was located in the present-day French departments of Bas-Rhin and Vosges; it was one of a number of partitions of Salm. History Salm-Salm was created as a partition of Salm-Dhaun in 1574, and was raised from a County to a Principality in 1739 after being inherited and renamed by Count Nicholas Leopold of Salm-Hoogstraten. Salm-Salm was partitioned between itself and Salm-Neuweiler in 1608. The last territorial partition occurred in 1751, when Salm-Salm reorganized its borders with the Duchy of Lorraine. Since 1743 the Princes were also Dukes of Hoogstraten. In 1790, after the French Revolution, the princes of Salm fled the territory and moved to their castle in Anholt, Westphalia. The House of Erdődy de Monyorókerék et Monoszló (also House of Erdödy) is the name of an old Hungarian- Croatian noble family with possessions in Hungary and Croatia. Elevated to the Hungarian nobility in 1459, the family was subsequently raised to the rank of Count in 1485.
