Princess Bokguk
Grand Princess Bokguk (; ; d. 8 November 1319) was a Mongolian imperial family member who became a Korean queen consort as the first wife of King Chungsuk of Goryeo. Her personal name was Borjigin Yilianzhenbala (). In 1316, she married into a different family but she died within three years. Life When she came to Goryeo in the same year with her marriage in 1316, it was said that she was very jealous of Virtuous Consort Hong due to Hong's closeness with the King. As a result, the Princess did not have a good relationship with the King and often was beaten, which made her bleed from her nose. Three years later, she died and received her Posthumous name as Princess Jeonghwa (정화공주, 靖和公主). Two years later, in 1321, Yi Sang-ji (이상지) was sent from Jungseoseong, Yuan dynasty to investigate the Princess's death. Taejo Of Joseon
Taejo of Joseon (4 November 1335 – 27 June 1408), born Yi Seong-gye (), was the founder and first ruler of the Joseon dynasty of Korea. After ascending to the throne, he changed his name to Yi Dan (), and reigned from 1392 to 1398. He was the main figure in the overthrowing of the Goryeo dynasty. Taejo abdicated in 1398 during a strife between his sons and died in 1408. When Taejo became king, he emphasized continuity over change. No new institutions and no massive purges occurred during his reign. The dynasty that he established was mostly dominated by the same ruling families and officials that had served the previous regime. He re-established amicable relations with Japan and improved relations with Ming China. Goryeo Under Mongol Rule
Goryeo under Mongol rule refers to the rule of the Mongol Empire and the Mongols, Mongol-led Yuan dynasty over the Korea, Korean Peninsula from about 1270 to 1356. After the Mongol invasions of Korea and the capitulation of the Korean Goryeo, Goryeo dynasty in the 13th century, Goryeo became a semi-autonomous vassal state and compulsory ally of the Yuan dynasty for about 80 years. It has been referred to as a "son-in-law kingdom in the Mongol empire." The ruling line of Goryeo, the House of Wang, was permitted to rule Korea as a vassal of the Yuan, which established the Zhengdong Province (征東行省; literally "Conquering the East") in Korea. Members of the Goryeo royal family were taken to Khanbaliq, Dadu, and typically married to spouses from the Yuan imperial house.
