The Primetime Emmy Awards, or Primetime Emmys, are part of the extensive range of Emmy Awards for artistic and technical merit for the American television industry. Bestowed by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS), the Primetime Emmys are presented in recognition of excellence in American primetime television programming. 26th Primetime Emmy Awards
The 26th Emmy Awards, later known as the 26th Primetime Emmy Awards, were handed out on May 28, 1974. The ceremony was hosted by Johnny Carson. Winners are listed in bold and networks are in parentheses. The top shows of the night were ''M*A*S*H'' and '' Upstairs, Downstairs''. ''M*A*S*H'' and ''The Waltons'' had the most major nominations with nine. ''The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman'' led the night with four major wins. George Yanok
George Richard Yanok (November 29, 1938 – April 29, 2022) was an American screenwriter, television producer, actor, and jazz drummer. He is noted for winning Primetime Emmy Awards in 1974 and 1976. Early life Yanok was born in Bristol, Connecticut, on November 29, 1938. His family moved to Pomona, California, when he was around twelve. He attended Pomona Catholic High School, where he was classmates with John Stewart. Yanok then studied at Santa Clara University and San Jose State College before joining the US Army. Career Yanok first worked in stand-up comedy at the hungry i in San Francisco and was an actor in theatre. Rod Warren (real name Rodney Warnken) (1931 – 22 October 1984) was an American screenwriter, producer, and actor. He was the youngest of three children of Belle and Robert Warnken Sr. of New Jersey. He had one surviving sister Martha Butler of Wallkill, New York who died in December 2020, and a brother Robert Warnken Jr. of Millport, NY, who died in 1994. He was well known for his car and phonograph collections. His car collections were frequently loaned to major Hollywood studios. Allan Manings (March 28, 1924 – May 12, 2010) was an American television producer and comedy writer. He was active in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s and was best known for his work in co-creating with his wife, actress Whitney Blake, '' One Day at a Time'', as well as serving as producer (and later executive producer) of the Bud Yorkin-Norman Lear Tandem show, ''Good Times''.
