Primetime 24
{{unreferenced, date=September 2015 Primetime 24 (PT24) was a special package offered on C band satellite sent out to viewers who mainly live in remote and distant locations. The package consisted of local ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox affiliates on the East Coast: The service was broadcast via the AMC-3 satellite, encrypted using DigiCipher 2. Until 2012, the service was owned by Lorac Communications, based in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. History When Primetime 24 first started in 1992, the group originally consisted of: * WABC-TV, New York City (ABC) * WBBM-TV, Chicago (CBS) * WXIA-TV, Atlanta (NBC) * WFLD, Chicago (Fox) In 1994, however, the two Chicago stations were replaced with WRAL-TV Raleigh, North Carolina for CBS and WSVN Miami for Fox; by 1997, PT24 dropped Fox, and WRAL, due to many pre-emptions of CBS programming, was replaced with WSEE-TV Erie, Pennsylvania, which was PT24's CBS affiliate for the remainder of the package's existence. C Band (IEEE)
The C band is a designation by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for a portion of the electromagnetic spectrum in the microwave range of frequencies ranging from 4.0 to 8.0 gigahertz (GHz). However, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission C band proceeding and auction, designated 3.7–4.2 GHz as C band. The C band is used for many satellite communications transmissions, some Wi-Fi devices, some cordless telephones, as well as some Radar and weather radar systems. WSEE-TV (channel 35) is a television station in Erie, Pennsylvania, United States, affiliated with CBS and The CW Plus. It is the flagship television property of locally based Lilly Broadcasting, and is a sister station to NBC affiliate WICU-TV (channel 12), to which Lilly provides certain services under a local marketing agreement (LMA) with SJL Broadcasting. Both stations share studios on State Street in downtown Erie, while WSEE-TV's transmitter is located on Peach Street in Summit Township, Pennsylvania. WCVI-TV, virtual and UHF digital channel 23, is a dual CBS/ ABC- affiliated television station serving the United States Virgin Islands that is licensed to Christiansted, Saint Croix. The station is owned by Lilly Broadcasting. WCVI-TV's transmitter is located on Estate Princess Hill. History The station was founded as WATU on May 16, 1997, but then changed its call letters to the current WCVI-TV that same year on June 30, as an affiliate of the United Paramount Network ( UPN). The WATU calls were previously used by the now-defunct NBC affiliate in Augusta, Georgia from the station's sign on from 1968 to 1981.
