The Baton Rouge Pro Tennis Classic was a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was latterly part of the ATP Challenger Series and ATP Challenger Tour. It was held annually at the Lamar Tennis Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States, as a Futures tournaments, Futures from 2006 to 2007 and a Challenger from 2008 until 2010. Igor Kunitsyn
Igor Konstantinovich Kunitsyn ( rus, И́горь Константи́нович Куни́цын, , ˈiɡərʲ kʊˈnʲitsɨn; born September 30, 1981) is a retired tennis player from Russia. He made it into the top 100 for the first time in 2006, and reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 35 in July 2009. Early life Kunitsyn was raised by his grandparents in Vladivostok, on the eastern coast of Russia when he was young. He started playing tennis at age seven. Tennis career Kunitsyn is arguably best known for two matches against compatriot Marat Safin. The first of which was at the 2007 Tennis Channel Open's Round-robin tournament, round-robin stage. Kunitsyn had won the first set, and had an early break in the second before Safin fought back and then got a 5–3 lead. Michael Venus (tennis)
Michael Venus (born 16 October 1987), is a New Zealander professional tennis player. He has a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 6, achieved on 29 August 2022. Venus won the 2017 French Open men's doubles partnering Ryan Harrison, and followed with a runner-up finish in the 2017 US Open mixed doubles partnering Chan Hao-ching. Venus and Harrison qualified for the year-end championships ATP Finals, where they reached the semifinals. In 2018 Venus made the men's doubles final at Wimbledon with Raven Klaasen, losing to Mike Bryan and Jack Sock, and was a semifinalist in the mixed doubles there as well with Katarina Srebotnik. Ryan Harrison
Ryan Harrison (born May 7, 1992) is an American professional tennis player. Harrison has won one career ATP title in singles at the 2017 Memphis Open to go along with four in doubles, including the 2017 French Open. Before turning 16, Harrison was regarded a prodigy after cracking the top 10 in the junior rankings and becoming one of the youngest players ever to win an ATP match. Although he broke through onto the ATP level by the age of 20, Harrison then fell out of the top 100 for several years. Timothy Smyczek ( ; ; born December 30, 1987) is an American former professional tennis player. He made three quarterfinals on the main tour as well as the semi-finals of Newport in 2018. Phillip Simmonds (born May 18, 1986) is a professional tennis player from the United States. Junior career Simmonds had a promising junior career, spending time as the number ranked doubles player on the ITF rankings. He was a member of the United States team that finished runners-up in the 2002 Junior Davis Cup and in the same year won the doubles at the Orange Bowl, with Scott Oudsema. Simmonds and Oudsema would go on to claim the 2003 Australian Open boys' doubles title, the first American male pairing to win the competition. Scott Oudsema
Scott Oudsema (born July 1, 1986) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. Career Oudsema partnered Phillip Simmonds to win the doubles at the 2002 Orange Bowl. He also competed with Simmonds at the 2003 Australian Open and the pair won the boys' doubles title. In 2004, Oudsema won a further three junior Grand Slam tournaments, the Australian Open, Wimbledon Championships and US Open, all with Brendan Evans. In the only Grand Slam the pair didn't win, the French Open, they were semi-finalists. Harsh Mankad (born 10 November 1979) is a former world ranked ATP Professional tennis player from India. He played Davis Cup for India between 2001–2010 and was the No. 1 singles player on the team for several of those years. Stephen Huss (; born 10 December 1975) is a former professional tennis player from Australia. Along with partner Wesley Moodie, he became the first qualifier to win the Wimbledon men's doubles championship in 2005, beating the 6th, 9th, 3rd, 1st & 2nd seeds in the process. His Wimbledon title was only his second doubles title on the ATP tour after his 2002 success at Casablanca with Myles Wakefield. Huss played tennis collegiately at Auburn University in the United States from 1996 to 2000, where he was an All-American in doubles in 1998 and in singles in 2000.
