Price Drop
Price Drop is a British television shopping channel based in the UK, that ran daily live reverse auctions. It was the first reverse auction channel of its kind in the world. The channel was owned by Bid Shopping. History 2003–2005: Price-Drop.TV The channel first launched as Price-Drop.TV on 11 June 2003. The channel began broadcasting from 4pm to 12 midnight, Wednesdays to Saturdays. The hours of live broadcast have been extended since and currently operates from 7.45am to 1.30am, 7 days a week. It is available to more than 12 million homes in the UK, and makes weekly revenue of over £3 million. Prior to December 2004, each 'price drop' started at the Claire price. After guide prices were removed, it was no longer possible to judge how closely the starting prices reflected the true value of products. 576i is a standard-definition television, standard-definition digital video mode, originally used for digitizing analog television in most countries of the world where the utility frequency for electric power distribution is 50 Hz. Because of its close association with the legacy color encoding systems, it is often referred to as PAL, PAL/SECAM or SECAM when compared to its 60 Hz (typically, see PAL-M) NTSC-colour-encoded counterpart, 480i. Bid Plus (formerly Speed Auction) was a British television shopping channel owned by Bid Shopping. The channel ceased broadcast on 1 July 2013. History The channel launched as speedauction on 27 July 2005, replacing the original Screenshop 2 channel. The channel broadcast between 8am and 1am. Live rising price auctions were only available Wednesday to Sunday between 4pm to 8pm and 9pm to midnight. Pre-recorded auctions were available the remainder of the time. Between 13 October 2009 and 17 January 2012, the channel was also available on the Freesat platform. Prior to the launch of the channel, the format of rising price auctions were first available on Bid (Bid-Up.TV at the time) between its launch in October 2000 and January 2005. Andrea Jean McLean (born 5 October 1969) is a Scottish journalist and television presenter who worked on ITV Daytime. She was a weather presenter for ''GMTV'' from 1997 to 2008, and a co-presenter on ITV's daytime chat show ''Loose Women'' from 2007 to 2020. Early life Although born in Glasgow, McLean and her sister were raised in Trinidad and Tobago. In telecommunications and computer networking, multiplexing (sometimes contracted to muxing) is a method by which multiple analog or digital signals are combined into one signal over a shared medium. The aim is to share a scarce resource - a physical transmission medium. For example, in telecommunications, several telephone calls may be carried using one wire.
