Price Brookfield
Emery Price Brookfield (May 11, 1920 – April 17, 2006) was an American professional basketball and baseball player. Brookfield played college basketball for the West Texas A&M Buffaloes and Iowa State Cyclones. He played professionally for the Indianapolis Jets and Rochester Royals of the Basketball Association of America (BAA)) and National Basketball Association (NBA) for 61 games. Brookfield also played baseball for the Borger Gassers of the West Texas–New Mexico League as a pitcher in 1942 and 1946. Brookfield served in the United States Navy during World War II. After his retirement from playing, he coached high school basketball, baseball and golf in Indiana. In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. College Basketball
In United States colleges, top-tier basketball is governed by collegiate athletic bodies including National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). In basketball, an assist is attributed to a player who passes the ball to a teammate in a way that leads directly to a score by field goal, meaning that they were "assisting" in the basket. An assist is also credited when a basket is awarded due to defensive goaltending. There is some judgment involved in deciding whether a passer should be credited with an assist. In basketball, free throws or foul shots are unopposed attempts to score points by shooting from behind the free-throw line (informally known as the foul line or the charity stripe), a line situated at the end of the Key (basketball), restricted area. The West Texas–New Mexico League was a minor league baseball league that operated from 1937 through 1955, with a hiatus from 1943 to 1945 during World War II.
