Preußisch Ströhen
Rahden is a town in the far north of North Rhine-Westphalia between Bielefeld and Bremen and between Hanover and Osnabrück. Rahden is part of the Minden-Lübbecke District in East Westphalia-Lippe. Rahden was first mentioned in 1033, and from 1816 to 1831 was county town of the district Rahden. Geography Rahden is situated approximately north of Lübbecke and north-west of Minden. It is the northernmost town of North Rhine-Westphalia. Lars Windhorst (born November 22, 1976) is a German entrepreneur and co-founder of Sapinda Group. He is best known for being the owner of fashion company La Perla. In 2015, he was ranked in the ''Sunday Times Rich List'', with his net worth reported as being £320 million. Dietmar Kolbus (January 17, 1966 – July 22, 2024) was a German chess player who resided in and played for Germany and the Isle of Man. Chess career Kolbus moved to Trier in the 1980s to study computer science, and also joined the SG Trier Bundesliga Chess Team. He later sponsored the team, moving them into the 4NCL. In October 2014, Kolbus was defeated by Abhijeet Gupta at the start of the Poker Masters Isle of Man International chess tournament. Kolbus competed in the FIDE Grand Swiss Tournament 2023, where he was the bottom seed. He managed to hold draws against grandmasters Adhiban Baskaran, Adham Fawzy, and Alexandr Fier. Heinrich Bretthorst (16 December 1883 in Rahden died 17 September 1962 in Leipzig) was a German politician ( SPD / SED). Life Bretthorst was born in the Rahden district of Lübbecke. His father died when he was three years old, his mother when he was eleven years old. He attended the eight-year Elementary School and learned carpentry. In 1920, he married his wife, Hedwig, who was born in Wüstehube. In 1923 she gave birth to a son. The son, also named Heinrich, was reported missing at the front in 1944. He never returned. Robert Portner (20 March 1837 – 29 May 1906) was an American grocer-turned-brewer who supplied beer to Union troops during the American Civil War. Based in Alexandria, Virginia, Portner found success after the war with the Robert Portner Brewing Company. Portner patented two brewing-related systems, one to purify air and the other to cool beer. Heinrich Rantzau
Heinrich Rantzau or Ranzow (Ranzovius) (11 March 1526 – 31 December 1598) was a German humanist writer and statesman, a prolific astrologer and an associate of Tycho Brahe. He was son of Johan Rantzau. He was Governor of the Danish royal share in the Duchy of Holstein, a rich man and celebrated book collector. Rantzau is perhaps best remembered as a patron of scholars. His own ''Tractatus astrologicus de genethliacorum thematum'' appeared in 1597, and went through five editions by 1615.
