Alfred Prettyman
Alfred E. Prettyman (born February 15, 1935) is an American publisher. Life Alfred E. Prettyman, was born in February 1935, in Baltimore, Maryland. He is one of five children of Edward Prettyman, the conductor of the Colored Park Band #1 of Baltimore, and Helen Prettyman, teacher. Prettyman attended Douglass High School from which he graduated at age 16. While in high school he also made several appearances on WAAM, now known as WJZ-TV, as a singer on the High Times Program, with host Tommy Dukehart and the afternoon sports and news shows. His appearances on WAAM lead to appearances on the radio and television shows of Paul Whiteman. A vocalist, his life in music has included performances as a recitalist and soloist. In 1962 at New York’s Henry Street Playhouse Opera Workshop, under the direction of Felix Popper, assistant conductor of the New York City Opera, he sang the role of Aeneas to Rose Bampton’s Dido in a concert version of Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. Elijah Barrett Prettyman
Elijah Barrett Prettyman (1830–1907) was the second principal of Maryland State Normal School (now Towson University). Biography Elijah Barrett Prettyman was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on February 20, 1830. He graduated from Dickinson College. He was a teacher and principal in Anne Arundel County for over 15 years. He later became the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and Principal of the Normal School. He married Lydia Forrest Johnston on June 6, 1855, and they had six children. A Democrat, he was elected clerk of the Montgomery County court and served for 22 years. Horace Greely Prettyman
Horace Greely Prettyman (November 8, 1857 – March 27, 1945) was an American football player in the early years of the sport. Prettyman won a record eight varsity letters at the University of Michigan, playing for the school's football team from 1882 to 1886 and 1888 to 1890. He was the team's captain in 1884, 1885, and 1886, and scored the first touchdown in the first game played at Michigan's first home football field in Ann Arbor. Prettyman later became a successful businessman and civic leader, operating a boarding house, a laundry service, a power company and the Ann Arbor Press, and holding office as an Ann Arbor city councilman, postmaster and Washtenaw County, Michigan supervisor. She was signed to Virgin Records until 2013 and released her first major label album '' Twentythree'' on August 2, 2005, followed by her second album '' Hello...x'' which was released on April 15, 2008.
