Pretty Mess (album)
''Pretty Mess'' is the debut studio album by American singer and songwriter Erika Jayne. It was released on August 11, 2009 by E1 Entertainment. Four singles were released from the album, "Roller Coaster", "Stars", "Give You Everything", and "Pretty Mess". Following its release, ''Pretty Mess'' received mixed reviews from music critics. Background and development Sheila E. is found playing percussion on the song, “Time to Realize” and the album includes a cover of Apollonia 6’s 1984 hit “Sex Shooter.” Jayne worked with several producers on the album such as Peter Rafelson, Eric Kupper, Esthero, Jahi Lake and Ike Dirty. Jayne also released a package for "Pretty Mess", featuring remixes by Dave Aude, Tracy Young, DJ Escape & Johnny Vicious, Larry Tee, Bill Hamel, Klubjumpers, Peter Rafelson and Marshall Stack, along with a music video version to the Dave Aude remix. Erika Jayne
Erika Girardi (née Chahoy; born July 10, 1971), known professionally as Erika Jayne, is an American singer, television personality and former actress. Early life Erika Girardi was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 10, 1971, to single mother Renee Chahoy. Her parents broke up before her first birthday. She graduated from North Atlanta High School. At 18, she moved to New York City. Career Her first two on-screen appearances were non-speaking roles as Suzanne Morton in the episodes "Prescription for Death" and "The Violence of Summer" as Pruiting's girlfriend in NBC's legal drama series ''Law & Order''. She also had roles in independent films ''Alchemy'' (1995) and ''Lowball'' (1996). Esthero
Esthero ( ; born Jenny-Bea Englishman on December 23, 1978 in Stratford, Ontario) is a Canadian singer-songwriter who lives in Los Angeles, California. The name ''Esthero'' refers both to the singer and formerly to the two-person team of herself and producer Doc McKinney. Esthero is a portmanteau of "Esther the hero"; she claims to have gotten the name by combining the name of the heroine (Esther) and last line ("If I am to be the hero, then I cannot fly from darkness") of the film from Sylvia Plath's novel ''The Bell Jar''. Esthero's sound characteristically features her voice over a mix of mellow bass lines, jazzy trumpets, Spanish guitar and hip-hop. Eric Kupper is an American keyboardist, arranger, songwriter, remix artist, DJ, and record producer of French descent. Biography Eric Kupper began playing in bands in his formative years, and got his real start in the mid-1980s working as a keyboardist, guitarist, and songwriter for such producer/remixers as David Morales, Frankie Knuckles, Arthur Baker, Mark Kamins, Justin Strauss, Peter Rauhofer, and Richie Jones. "Sex Shooter" is the debut single by Apollonia 6, released as a single in 1984. It appears on Apollonia 6 (album), the group's only album. The song reached the top 20 of the US R&B Chart and was written and produced by Prince (musician), Prince. A version performed by Prince appears on the 2019 posthumous demo album ''Originals (Prince album), Originals''. The song was performed by Apollonia 6 in the 1984 film ''Purple Rain (film), Purple Rain''. Apollonia 6 was a 1980s American female singing trio. Origin Apollonia 6 was created by recording artist Prince, who had also created the group Vanity 6 one year prior in 1982, but the groups did not exist simultaneously. After a number of disputes with Prince, Vanity (Denise Matthews), the lead singer of Vanity 6, left the group in 1983 to pursue solo endeavors, recording with Motown Records and acting in films. She left behind the co-starring role that she was supposed to play in the 1984 film '' Purple Rain'' starring Prince. Searching for a replacement, the film's director, Albert Magnoli, met aspiring actress and model Patricia Apollonia Kotero.
