"Pretty Lady" is a 1973 song by Canadian rock band Lighthouse. The song was the lead single of three released from their ''Can You Feel It'' LP. It was written by lead singer Skip Prokop. The song reached number 53 on ''Billboard'' and number 31 on ''Cash Box.'' It was their final charting single in the United States, and became their third greatest hit. It was the group's second of two hits on the Adult Contemporary chart, reaching number 38, after " One Fine Morning" had hit number 30 two years earlier. In their native Canada, "Pretty Lady" reached the Top 10, and was not their final hit. It reached as high as number nine, for two weeks during the winter of 1974. Trooper is a Canadian rock band that developed out of another group formed by vocalist Ra McGuire and guitarist Brian Smith in 1975. The group is best known for its hits " Raise a Little Hell", " We're Here for a Good Time (Not a Long Time)", "The Boys in the Bright White Sports Car", "General Hand Grenade", "3 Dressed Up as a 9", "Janine", "Two for the Show", "Oh, Pretty Lady" and "Santa Maria". ''Pacific Overtures'' is a Musical theater, musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and a book by John Weidman, with "additional material by" Hugh Wheeler. Set in 19th-century Japan, it tells the story of the country's westernization starting in 1853, when American ships forcibly opened it to the rest of the world. The story is told from the point of view of the Japanese, and focuses in particular on the lives of two friends who are caught in the change. Sondheim wrote the score in a quasi-Japanese style of parallel 4ths and no leading-tone. He did not use the pentatonic scale; the 4th degree of the major scale is represented from the opening number through the finale, as Sondheim found just five pitches too limiting. The music contrasts Japanese contemplation ("There Is No Other Way") with Western ingenuousness ("Please Hello") while over the course of the 127 years, Western harmonies, tonality and even lyrics are infused into the score. ''42nd Street'' is a 1933 American pre-Code musical film directed by Lloyd Bacon, and a script by Rian James and James Seymour (plus uncredited contributions by Whitney Bolton), adapted from the 1932 novel of the same name by Bradford Ropes. Starring an ensemble cast of Warner Baxter, Bebe Daniels, George Brent, Ruby Keeler, Dick Powell and Ginger Rogers, the film revolved around the rehearsals of a Broadway show at the height of the Great Depression, and its cast and crew.
