Preterm Foundation
The Preterm Foundation was a pioneering not-for-profit family planning clinic in Sydney Australia from 1974 to 2015, offering women a comprehensive range of counseling, contraception and first-trimester pregnancy termination services. Founding Preterm was the brainchild of Cronulla GP Ian Edwards, who in 1973 with his attorney brother Brian Edwards decided to set up a not-for-profit clinic to make affordable pregnancy termination freely available to women in the Sydney area. The foundation was reportedly financed by loans or gifts from its supporters. Bridget Gilling, its president and an advocate of abortion law reform, was sent to have lent $1,000 to launch the clinic. Control Abortion Referral Service was a feminist Australian organisation active from 1973 through the mid-1980s that advised and supported women seeking abortion from New South Wales, other Australian states and from abroad, particularly from New Zealand. Bettina Mary Arndt (born 1 August 1949) is an Australian writer and commentator who specialises in sex and gender issues. Starting as a sex therapist and self-proclaimed feminist, she established her career in the 1970s publishing and broadcasting as well as writing several books. Homebush is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is located 12 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the Municipality of Strathfield. The name of the suburb derives ultimately from an estate to the north, called "Home Bush" and owned by colonial surgeon D'Arcy Wentworth. The Reichstag fire (german: Reichstagsbrand, ) was an arson attack on the Reichstag building, home of the German parliament in Berlin, on Monday 27 February 1933, precisely four weeks after Nazi leader Adolf Hitler was sworn in as Chancellor of Germany. Marinus van der Lubbe, a Dutch "council communist", was the apparent culprit; however, Hitler attributed the fire to Communist agitators.
