Utah State University
Utah State University (USU or Utah State) is a public land-grant research university in Logan, Utah. It is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. With nearly 20,000 students living on or near campus, USU is Utah's largest public residential campus. As of Fall 2022, there were 27,943 students enrolled, including 24,835 undergraduate students and 3,108 graduate students. The university has the highest percentage of out-of-state students of any public university in Utah, totaling 23% of the student body. Founded in 1888 as Utah's land-grant college, USU focused on science, engineering, agriculture, domestic arts, military science, and mechanic arts. Stanford Cazier
Stanford Orson "Stan" Cazier (June 11, 1930 – March 14, 2013) was an American educator, university administrator and scholar. He was president of California State University, Chico from 1971–1979 and Utah State University from 1979–1992. Biographical background Cazier was born in Nephi, Utah. He studied at the University of Utah, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1952. During 1952–1953, he served as an Ensign in the United States Navy. He briefly attended Brigham Young University for graduate work, but then transferred to the University of Utah to complete his Master of Arts degree in 1956, writing his thesis on William Henry Hooper. He then earned a Ph.D. in history under the well-known intellectual history historian, Merle Curti, at the University of Wisconsin in 1964. While an undergraduate, Cazier met Shirley Anderson at the University of Utah. They were married June 11, 1952 in Salt Lake City and had three sons. Henry Aldous Dixon (June 29, 1890 – January 22, 1967) was a U.S. Representative from Utah and the president of first Weber College and later Utah State Agricultural College. Biography Born in Provo in the Utah Territory, Dixon attended the public schools until high school, when he attended private Brigham Young High School, from which he graduated in 1909. He graduated from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, in 1914, from the University of Chicago in 1917, and from the University of Southern California in 1937. Career Dixon was an instructor at Weber College, which later became Weber State University, from 1914 to 1918, and served as the college's president twice, in 1919–1920 and 1937–1953. Between these presidential terms, he served as superintendent of Provo city schools from 1920–1924 and again in 1932-1937. Louis Linden Madsen
Louis Linden Madsen (September 29, 1907 – May 18, 1986) was an American agricultural scientist who served as president of Utah State University from 1950 to 1953 and later as a member of the Washington State University faculty. Biography Madsen was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He received his bachelor's degree at Utah State Agricultural College (now Utah State University). He then received a Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1934. Prior to taking the position as president of Utah State, Madsen was an employee of the United States Department of Agriculture. Madsen succeeded Franklin S. Harris as president of Utah State. Several papers co-authored by Madsen relating to diseases in cattle were published in the ''Journal of Animal Science''.
