Coat Of Arms Of North Yemen
The national emblem of Yemen depicts a golden eagle of Saladin with a scroll between its claws. On the scroll is written the name of the country in ar, الجمهورية اليمنية or ("The Yemeni Republic"). The chest of the eagle contains a shield that depicts a coffee plant and the Marib Dam, with seven blue wavy stripes below. The flagstaffs on the right and left of the eagle hold the flag of Yemen. Ahmad Al-Ghashmi
Ahmad bin Hussein al-Ghashmi (21 August 1935 – 24 June 1978) ( ar, أحمد حسين الغشمي, Aḥmad Ḥusayn al-Ghašmī) was the President of the Yemen Arab Republic from 11 October 1977 until his death eight months later. Al-Ghashmi assumed power when his predecessor, Ibrahim al-Hamdi, was assassinated. Ghashmi himself was assassinated later. His assassination occurred when he was meeting an envoy sent by People's Democratic Republic of Yemen President Salim Rubai Ali Salim Rubai Ali (; 17 June 1934 – 26 June 1978), known by his comrades as "Salimin", was the Marxist head of state of the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen (South Yemen) from 22 June 1969 until his execution on 26 June 1978. The history of Yemen describes the cultures, events, and peoples of what is one of the oldest centers of civilization in the Near East. The following is a list of the heads of state of modern Yemen, from the establishment of the Mutawakkilite Kingdom of Yemen in 1918 to the present day. Yemen is in a tumultuous state since the start of the Arab Spring-related Yemeni Crisis in 2011; the crisis resulted in the resignation of President Ali Abdullah Saleh in 2012, after 33 years in power. Abdul Karim Abdullah al-Arashi (1 December 1934 – 10 June 2006) ( ar, عبد الكريم عبد الله العرشي, ʿAbd al-Karīm ʿAbd Allāh al-ʿArāshī), was a Yemeni politician who served as the President of the Yemen Arab Republic briefly from 24 June to 18 July 1978. He was preceded by Ahmed Al-Ghashmi and succeeded by Ali Abdullah Saleh. He also served as Vice President of Yemen Arab Republic, from 1978 to 1990, and the Speaker of the Constituent People's Assembly (Parliament) from 1978 to 1988, and the president of the Shura Council from 1988 to 1990.
