The President's College is a boys' national school in Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte, Sri Lanka. Founded on 4 February 1978, its inauguration was the first official act carried out by President J. R. Jayewardene. History The college began with two grades- Lower Kindergarten and Year 1, with four teachers and 351 students. The school had its first sports meet in 1980, and began offering Advanced Level classes in 1988. Initially located at Torrington Place, Colombo 7, the school was shifted to its current premises on 21 June 1983. It was given National School status in 1999. A National school ( si, ජාතික පාසල, Jathika Pasala, ta, தேசியப் பாடசாலை) in Sri Lanka is a school that is funded and administered by the Ministry of Education of the central government as opposed to Provincial schools run by the local provincial council. These schools provide secondary education (some including collegiate), with some providing primary education as well. The Sri Lankan Advanced Level (A-level), is a General Certificate of Education (GCE) qualification exam in Sri Lanka, similar to the British Advanced Level, conducted annually by the Department of Examinations of the Ministry of Education. Cinnamon Gardens ( si, කුරුඳු වත්ත ''Kurundu Vaththa'', ta, கறுவாத் தோட்டம்) is an affluent neighbourhood in Colombo, Sri Lanka located 3 kilometers south-east from Colombo's centre. Hettimulla Appuhamilage Shashikala Dedunu Siriwardene (born 14 February 1985 in Colombo, Sri Lanka), known as Shashikala Siriwardene, is a Sri Lankan former cricketer who captained the Sri Lankan women's cricket team in Women's One Day International cricket, WODIs. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps.
