Prempeh College
Prempeh College is a public secondary boarding school for boys located in Kumasi, the capital city of the Ashanti Region, Ghana. The school was founded in 1949 by the Asanteman traditional authority, the British Colonial Government, the Methodist Church Ghana and the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. The School is named after the King of Ashanti, (Asantehene) Sir Osei Tutu Agyeman Prempeh II, who donated the land on which the school was built. and was modeled on Eton College in England. The school topped matriculation at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 2004 with 441 students admitted and in 2012, with 296 students from the college admitted, and is considered to be one of the best secondary schools in Ghana. The School has won the National Robotics Championships a record five times between 2013 and 2021. Maxwell Fry
Edwin Maxwell Fry, CBE, RA, FRIBA, FRTPI, known as Maxwell Fry (2 August 1899 – 3 September 1987), was an English modernist architect, writer and painter. Originally trained in the neo-classical style of architecture, Fry grew to favour the new modernist style, and practised with eminent colleagues including Walter Gropius, Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret. Fry was a major influence on a generation of young architects. Among the younger colleagues with whom he worked was Denys Lasdun. In the 1940s Fry designed buildings for West African countries that were then part of the British Empire, including Ghana and Nigeria. In the 1950s he and his wife, the architect Jane Drew, worked for three years with Le Corbusier on an ambitious development to create the new capital city of Punjab, India, Punjab at Chandigarh. Kwesi Ahwoi
Kwesi Ahwoi (born 17 November 1946) is a former Minister for the Interior of Ghana. In 2015, he became the first Ghanaian ambassador to Comoros, he also doubles as the ambassador of Ghana in 4 other countries; Lesotho, Mauritius, Seychelles and Swaziland. Jot Agyeman
John Osei Tutu Agyeman (born 28 June 1967 in Kumasi) also known by the name Jot Agyeman is a Ghanaian author, actor, playwright and television personality. Early life and education Agyeman was born on 28 June 1967 in Kumasi. He is the youngest of his mother's ten children, and his father's sixteenth child. His father was enstooled Nkosuo Nkosuohene (Development Chief) by the Late Asantehene (Ashanti King) Otumfuo Opoku Ware II, making him (his father) the first-ever Nkosuohene to be installed in Ghana. Agyeman had his secondary education at Prempeh College, Kumasi. He later continued at Wesley College, Kumasi, where he trained as a teacher. Sam Adjei
Sam Adjei (16 June 1948 – 7 February 2016) was a leading public health figure in Ghana. Biography Adjei was born in Accra, which was then part of what was called the Gold Coast Colony. As a child Adjei suffered from polio, which caused him to walk with a limp. He received his early schooling from Prempeh College in Kumasi. He received his degree in medicine from the University of Ghana in 1976. In 1979 he became one of the ten district health officials of Ghana. He later went to the United Kingdom to study for an MSc degree in epidemiology and disease control at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. In 1983 Adjei was given the new government position of Senior Medical Officer for Public Health. In this position, he developed programmes to combat sexually transmitted diseases as well as leprosy, schistosomiasis, and malaria. Mohammed Abdul-Saaka
Mohammed Abdul-Saaka was a lawyer and a Ghanaian politician. He was a deputy minister in the second republic. He served as deputy minister for defence and later deputy minister for internal affairs (now ministry of interior). Early life and education Mohammed Saaka was born on 22 July 1935 at Janga, a village near Walewale. He is the son of Namoraa Yimbasi who was a subchief within the Soo Traditional Area, he is also a qualified candidate for the Soo Namship (kingship) through the Naa (chief/king) Kobri Gate in Janga.
