The Preis der Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe is a Group 3 flat horse race in Germany open to thoroughbreds aged four years or older. It is run at Baden-Baden over a distance of 2,000 metres (about 1¼ miles), and it is scheduled to take place each year in late August. History The event was established in 1956, and it was originally called the Spreti-Rennen. It was initially contested over 2,400 metres. The present system of race grading was introduced in Germany in 1972, and the Spreti-Rennen was classed at Group 3 level. It was cut to 2,200 metres in 1987, and to 2,000 metres in 1990. The race became known as the Preis der Badischen Sparkassen in 1998, and it was renamed the Preis der Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe in 2001. Cezanne (horse)
Cezanne (26 April 1989 – after 2001) was a British-bred Thoroughbred racehorse. Unraced as a two-year-old he showed modest form in 1992 and 1993, winning two minor races in England. After being transferred to race in Dubai he emerged as a top-class middle-distance performer as a five-year-old, taking the second and third rounds of the Al Maktoum Challenge before returning to Europe to win the Magnet Cup, Spreti-Rennen and Irish Champion Stakes. Following an unsuccessful campaign in 1996 he was retired to stud but proved to be infertile. After being gelded he competed in National Hunt races and won one minor race before being retired in 2001. Background Cezzanne was a bay horse bred in England by the Hampshire-based Meon Valley Stud. Filip Minařík
Filip Minařík (10 March 1975 – 4 September 2023) was a Czech jockey who was active in German horse racing. Early life and career Filip Minařík was born in Prague on 10 March 1975. Minařík won the German Jockey Championship in 2005, 2011, 2016, and 2017 (together with ). After a serious fall during a horse race in Mannheim in July 2020, Minařík was in a coma for four weeks. This incident accelerated his plans to leave jockeying and contribute to the sport in other ways. After retiring from his career as a jockey, Minařík was active as an ambassador for galloping. Va Bank (foaled March 10, 2012) is a thoroughbred racing horse who won the 2015 Polish "triple crown". At the end of 2016, 50% of the shares were bought by Team Valor International. Andreas Schütz (born 19 February 1968) is a Thoroughbred racehorse trainer. From a prominent racing family, he is the fourth generation to train professionally. Andreas Schütz started out as an amateur jockey, winning four German championships from 1984–1987 and the European championship in 1987. In 1992 he began working as an assistant trainer for his father Bruno Schütz who had built one of the Germany's most successful public training stables. Due to health problems, his father retired and in 1998 Andreas took over the running of the stable.
