Preferred Health Network
Preferred Health Network is a non-profit network of hospitals that was formed in 1989. That same year, they took over the managing of Brooklyn's Wyckoff Heights Medical Center and Jackson Heights' ''Physicians Hospital''. When several other hospitals were facing a choice between "closing down or seeking protection in a merger" the result was that "Ten hospitals in Nassau and Queens have become Preferred Health Network." However, by 1996 they were down to four hospitals, and ready for being taken over by New York Hospital; they had also added "more than 20 primary care facilities in Brooklyn and Queens." Wyckoff Heights Medical Center
Wyckoff Heights Medical Center is a 350-bed teaching hospital located in the Wyckoff Heights section of Bushwick, Brooklyn in New York City. The hospital is an academic affiliate of the NewYork-Presbyterian's Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University, the New York Medical College and New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. The primary goal of the center is to train future physicians that are qualified medically and personably. Jackson Heights is a neighborhood in the northwestern portion of the borough of Queens in New York City. Flushing Hospital Medical Center (also known as Flushing Hospital) is one of the oldest hospitals in New York City.
