Bob Preedy
Robert "Bob" Preedy is a broadcaster, a book author and was formerly a presenter on BBC Radio York and the chief continuity announcer for Yorkshire Television. Career Television After joining the BBC in London as a trainee cameraman in 1970, he later transferred to Yorkshire Television in Leeds. Charlie Preedy
Charles James Fane Preedy (11 January 1900 – February 1978) was an English football goalkeeper. One of six children, Preedy was born in Neemuch, British India, where his father was serving with the Royal Artillery. The family returned to Eltham, London, in 1907 where he attended Gordon School. He began playing football as a youth, turning professional in 1924 with Third Division South Charlton Athletic, where he became the club's regular keeper and made 131 league appearances in four seasons. In a Football League Management Committee Meeting in May 1928, Preedy was removed from retained to transfer list. Preedy moved to Wigan Borough in 1928 and spent a single season there, playing 41 league matches, before moving to Arsenal in May 1929. He was not initially the Gunners' first team goalkeeper, instead mainly playing as understudy to Dan Lewis, Arsenal's regular keeper. Cyril Preedy
Cyril Preedy (1920 – 11 July 1965) was an English pianist who was described as "the most outstanding young pianists to emerge in the post war era"."Mr. Cyril Preedy." His first public appearance was at the Salle Pleyel when he was aged eight, he became a Junior Exhibitioner at the Royal College of Music in the same year. In 1936 he gained a London County Council scholarship to study at the Royal College of Music under Herbert Freyer, in 1939 he was awarded the Hopkinson Gold Medal and the Chappell Gold Medal the following year. Frederick Preedy
Frederick Preedy (2 June 1820 – 28 March 1898) was an architect and glass painter in England. Life Preedy was born in Offenham near Evesham in Worcestershire and died at his son's home in Croydon. During his early life his family moved from Offenham to nearby Fladbury. Following his death a memorial was erected to him in the church of St John the Baptist, Fladbury, Worcestershire. This also remembers his wife Mary (1831 - 1889), and daughter Alice Mary (1860 - 1899). He was buried at Foxham in Wiltshire. Career He trained as an architect in Worcester with Harvey Eginton. Following the early death of Eginton in 1849 he set up his own architectural practice in Worcester. In 1860 he moved his business to London. For his early churches he commissioned stained glass windows from George Rogers in Worcester, but after around 1853 began to make his own glass.
