Pre-Electric Wizard 1989–1994
''Pre-Electric Wizard 1989–1994'' is a compilation of songs featuring Electric Wizard frontman Jus Oborn with his previous band, which changed its name twice. *Songs 1-4 are by Eternal, from the demo ''Lucifer's Children'' (1993). *Songs 5-7 are by Thy Grief Eternal, from the demo ''On Blackened Wings'' (1992). *Songs 8-11 are by Lord of Putrefaction, from the split LP with Mortal Remains on Dave Gedge's Nuclear Gore Records (1991). The Eternal material was also released as ''Lucifer's Children'' by Rise Above on 10" vinyl. The Thy Grief Eternal material was also released on 10" vinyl by Rise Above under the title ''On Blackened Wings''. The Lord of Putrefaction split LP is now out of print. Electric Wizard are an English doom metal band from Dorset. The band formed in 1993 and have recorded nine studio albums, two of which have been considered genre landmarks: ''Come My Fanatics…'' (1997) and ''Dopethrone'' (2000). Electric Wizard's brand of doom metal incorporates stoner and sludge traits, with lyrics focusing on the occult, witchcraft, H. P. Lovecraft, horror films and cannabis. In 2014 they formed Witchfinder Records, an imprint of Spinefarm Records, on which they plan to release all future albums. Napalm Death
Napalm Death are an English grindcore band formed in 1981 in Meriden, West Midlands. None of the band's original members has been in the group since 1986. But since ''Utopia Banished'' (1992), the lineup of bassist Shane Embury, guitarist Mitch Harris, drummer Danny Herrera and lead vocalist Mark "Barney" Greenway has remained consistent through most of the band's career. From 1989 to 2004, Napalm Death were a five-piece band after they added Jesse Pintado as the replacement of one-time guitarist Bill Steer. Following Pintado's departure, the band reverted to a four-piece. Black Sabbath were an English rock music, rock band formed in Birmingham in 1968 by guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward (musician), Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne. ''Paranoid'' is the second studio album by English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released in September 1970 through Vertigo Records in England and Warner Bros. Records in the US. Solstice is an English epic doom metal band from Dewsbury, founded by Rich Walker after the breakup of his previous hardcore punk / grindcore bands Sore Throat and Warfear. Rich Walker previously ran The Miskatonic Foundation, a record label dedicated to doom metal and traditional heavy metal. History Contemporary with the second wave of black metal that was especially active in Norway and other Scandinavian nations, Solstice released their debut album ''Lamentations'' on England's Candlelight Records in 1994. The album was followed by a UK tour with Count Raven and a European tour with Anathema. 1996 saw the release of the ''Halcyon'' EP on Godhead Recordings; two years later, the band signed with Misanthropy Records, which helped release ''New Dark Age''. Marquee Club
The Marquee Club was a music venue first located at 165 Oxford Street in London, when it opened in 1958 with a range of jazz and skiffle acts. Its most famous period was from 1964 to 1988 at 90 Wardour Street in Soho, and it finally closed when at 105 Charing Cross Road in 1996, although the name has been revived unsuccessfully three times in the 21st century. It was a small and relatively cheap club, located in the heart of the music industry in London's West End, and used to launch the careers of generations of rock acts.
