Praz De Lys-Sommand
Praz de Lys - Sommand is a twinned ski resort starting at a high altitude and composed of Sommand resort and Praz de Lys resort both linked by ski trails and chair lifts over and around their dividing mountains. Sommand sits high above its village of Mieussy and Praz de Lys sits above Taninges. The ski resort of Les Gets is also nearby Praz de Lys, about 15 minutes drive. It was opened in approximately 1978. There are 24 ski lifts, 6 chairlifts, beginner's areas in both sides with a child-safe moving carpet lift, and a Snowpark and Boarder cross ski areas on the Sommand side. Sommand and Praz de Lys permit only low impact minimal infrastructure development to preserve the natural environment and views. The focus is on enjoyment of nature, and new permitted development uses traditional savoyard chalet construction and is within zoned areas naturally screened by pine forests. Mieussy
Mieussy (; frp, Myeûfi) is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. It is a traditional Alpine farming village in the Vallée du Giffre, around 35 kilometers east of Geneva. The area is known for its scenic views, skiing, and local foods. It is host to the "Foire d' Automne", a harvest festival which runs for two days in October. Winter skiing Mieussy has its own high-altitude ski resort, Sommand, starting at and with of downhill runs suitable for all levels. Taninges
Taninges () is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France. Taninges is a pleasant town of over 3000 people in the French Alps, about 35 km directly east-southeast of Geneva and close to the commune of Cluses. It dates back to Roman times, and some Roman cobblestone mountain tracks are still in existence. The town has hotels, restaurants, cinema, municipal campsite, supermarket and petrol station. A river runs through the town, and there are many walking and cycling tracks in the area. There is also a tourist information centre with internet and multi-lingual staff in the centre of the town. Sites Taninges is located close to the ski resorts of Le Praz de Lys, Sommand and Les Gets, popular in the winter. Les Gets
Les Gets () is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France. The village's first single-person chair lift was opened in 1938 with the first chair lift on Mont Chéry in 1954. Geography Les Gets is situated on the col between Taninges and Morzine, at the western edge of the Portes du Soleil ski area. Culture Les Gets contains a museum of Mechanical Music and hosts a festival of Mechanical Music bi-annually. This has been running for 25 years. During this period the streets are closed off and barrel organs or ''orgues'' fill the streets with mechanical music.
