Pravin Godkhindi (born 28 October 1973) is an Indian classical Hindustani flute (bansuri) player. He has mastered both the tantrakari and gayaki style of playing on the flute. He was called a top ranking artist in Hindustani bansuri, by Akashvani (AIR). Dharwad (), also known as Dharwar, is a city located in the north western part of the Indian state of Karnataka. It is the headquarters of the Dharwad district of Karnataka and forms a contiguous urban area with the city of Hubballi. It was merged with Hubballi in 1962 to form the twin cities of Hubballi–Dharwad, Hubballi-Dharwad. Bansuri Players
A bansuri is an ancient side blown flute originating from the Indian subcontinent. It is an aerophone produced from bamboo and metal like material used in Hindustani classical music. It is referred to as ''nadi'' and ''tunava'' in the ''Rigveda'' and other Vedic texts of Hinduism. Its importance and operation is discussed in the Sanskrit text ''Natya Shastra''. A ''bansuri'' is traditionally made from a single hollow shaft of bamboo with six or seven finger holes. Some modern designs come in ivory, fiberglass and various metals. The six hole instrument covers two and a half octaves of music. The ''bansuri'' is typically between and in length, and the thickness of a human thumb. One end is closed, and few centimeters from the closed end is its blow hole. Longer ''bansuris'' feature deeper tones and lower pitches. Sivamani
Sivamani (1 December 1959), commonly known by his stage name Drums Sivamani, is an Indian percussionist. He plays many instruments including drums, octoban, darbuka, udukai, ghatam and kanjira. He performed drumming during the IPL Championships in 2008 and 2010. He is affiliated with the Chennai Super Kings team, but gained recognition through his role as A. R. Rahman's lead percussionist. They have been close friends since childhood. In 2019, he was conferred with Padma Shri. Career Sivamani is a Chennai-based percussionist. He began drumming at the age of seven. Kadri Gopalnath (6 December 1949 – 11 October 2019) was an Indian alto saxophone, alto saxophonist and one of the pioneers of Carnatic music for that instrument. Early life Born in Sajeepa Mooda village in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada to Taniyappa (a nadaswaram, Naadaswara vidwan) and Gangamma, Gopalnath was inspired to learn the saxophone as a child after hearing it played by the Mysore Palace band set, although he took nearly 20 years to master the complexities of the western wind instrument. He was eventually crowned the "Saxophone Chakravarthy". Career Gopalnath learnt to play Carnatic music on the saxophone from N. Gopalakrishna Iyer of Kalaniketan, Mangalore.
