Prattville is a community in Sand Springs, Oklahoma on SH-97. Prattville is located 10 miles west of Tulsa, and can be found on the south banks of the Arkansas River. History In 1945, approximately 4 houses and two small grocery stores were located north of 41st Street and east of Highway 97 in what was known as Garden Heights, now referred to as "old Prattville." Several years later another grocery store and housing addition were built on the west side of Highway 97, forming the nucleus of then-called "Prattville." In October 1962, the Prattville community, consisting of 752 acres owned at one time by Harry Pratt, was annexed by Sand Springs. With the opening of the 41st Street bridge, the building of Keystone Dam and the migrating of Tulsa residents into the area, Prattville experienced phenomenal growth. Sand Springs Fire Department
The Sand Springs Fire Department (SSFD) is a full-time fire department located in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Sand Springs, Oklahoma. The Sand Springs Fire Department covers multiple communities in Tulsa, Creek, and Osage counties. The department's area of service spans approximately 64 square miles and contains approximately 40,000 residents. SSFD responds to over 3,000 calls annually from two stations. Early history The Sand Springs Fire Department was founded in 1913. Town Marshal Robert Fleenor was elected fire chief of the Sand Springs Volunteer Fire Department. In March 1913, the Bucket Brigade was replaced with the 500 feet of fire hose purchased by the city. Charles Page donated another 500 feet of hose. Chief Fleenor had a team of horses to pull a fire wagon. The horses were used to pull the fire wagon until their stable caught fire in 1915. Charles Page High School is a high school in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Sand Springs, Oklahoma, United States, named after the philanthropist Charles Page. It is the only public High school (North America), high school in Sand Springs. History Charles Page High School was built in 1959, constructed to replace Sand Springs High School, which is now the former Central Ninth Grade Center/Virtual Center. On August 21, 1964, five black students were refused enrollment at Charles Page which was at that time an all-white high school. In March 2019, voters passed a general obligation bond measure to fund a new Ninth Grade Center add-on at the CPHS campus. It replaced the former Central Ninth Grade Center in downtown Sand Springs. State Highway 97 (abbreviated SH-97) is a state highway, maintained by the U.S. state of Oklahoma. It connects two towns in the northeast part of the state: Sapulpa and Sand Springs.
