Bözberg Railway Line
The Bözberg railway line is a railway line in Switzerland, running between Basel and Brugg via Pratteln, Rheinfelden, Stein-Säckingen, Frick and the Bözberg Tunnel. At Brugg it connects to Zürich via Baden and to the Gotthard Railway via the Aargauische Südbahn. The line was built by the Bötzberg Railway (german: Bötzbergbahn), a joint venture of the Swiss Northeastern Railway and Swiss Central Railway. Construction started in 1870 and it opened on 2 August 1875. It was taken over by Swiss Federal Railways in 1902. It is now an important freight line connecting Germany and Italy via the Gotthard. Hauenstein Railway
The Hauenstein Railway is a major railway line in Switzerland connecting the cities of Basel and Olten. The original line was built between 1853 and 1858 under the Unterer Hauenstein Pass, an ancient pass through the Jura Mountains, including a long tunnel under the village of Hauenstein. Between 1912 and 1916 a new line with an long base tunnel was built further east, by-passing the steeper sections of the line. Normally long-distance trains use the base tunnel line, and the old summit line is only used by trains serving the local people ('' Läufelfingerli''). Sometimes during disruptions inter-city trains operate on the old line, but it is reasonably fast and diverted trains take only about four minutes longer than normal services. The Basel tramway network (german: Basler Strassenbahn-Netz) is a network of tramways forming part of the public transport system in Basel, Switzerland, and its agglomeration - it also reaches into adjacent suburbs in Germany and France. The only two other tramway networks to cross an international border are Geneva's and Strasbourg's tramways. The Basel tram system consists of 12 lines. The Tarifverbund Nordwestschweiz, also known by its initialisation TNW, is a Swiss public transport tariff network covering the whole of the cantons of Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft, together with parts of the cantons of Aargau, Jura and Solothurn. The TNW network offers various kinds of tickets, from single tickets to annual season tickets, which are valid on the buses, trams and trains of the operators that are members of the network. Tickets are only valid within the TNW area, and prices are based on zones, with 48 zones covering the whole of the TNW area.
