Prashant Thakur
Prashant Thakur is an Indian politician from Maharashtra. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Early life Thakur was born in Panvel on 5 August 1974, son of Ramsheth Changu Thakur and Shakuntala Thakur. Ramsheth Thakur is a former Member of Parliament (MP). Thakur started studying civil engineering but left after his second year. He married Varsha Thakur and raised 2 children. Political career Thakur was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Panvel, Maharashtra in the 2009 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election as a candidate from the Bharatiya Janata Party. He served as Chairman of CIDCO, a politician in Panvel contested the 2014 Maharashtra Elections. Thakur became President of the Raigad District Youth Congress Committee in 2005. Maharashtra Legislative Assembly
The Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha or the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly is the lower house of the legislature of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is situated in the Nariman Point area of South Mumbai in the capital Mumbai. Presently, 288 members of the Legislative Assembly are directly elected from the single-seat constituencies. The members of the upper house, the Maharashtra Vidhan Parishad (the legislative council) are indirectly elected through an electoral college. Sessions The budget session and the monsoon session are convened in Mumbai whereas the winter session is convened in the auxiliary capital Nagpur. Shiv Sena ( IAST: ''Śiva Sēnā'') () was a right-wing to far-right Marathi regionalist and Hindu ultranationalist political party in India founded in 1966 by cartoonist Bal Thackeray. Originally emerging from nativist movements in Bombay (present-day Mumbai), the party agitated for preferential treatment for the Marathi people over migrants from other parts of India. Its election symbol for Maharashtra was the ''Bow and Arrow''. Although the party's primary base always remained in Maharashtra, it tried to expand to a pan-Indian base.
