Heribert Prantl
Heribert Prantl (born 30 July 1953 in Nittenau, Bavaria, Germany) is a German author, journalist and jurist (former judge, prosecutor and lawyer). At the ''Süddeutsche Zeitung'' he was head of the department of domestic policy from 1995 to 2017, head of the department "opinion" from 2018 to 2019, member of the chief editors from 2011 to 2019 and is now columnist and author. Since 2002 he has been a lecturer at the faculty of law at Bielefeld University, where he was appointed honorary professor in 2010. He wrote various political books. Early life and family Prantl was born in Nittenau in Bavaria on 30 July 1953. A stipendiary of the Catholic "Cusanuswerk", he studied law, philosophy and history at the University of Regensburg and earned his juris doctor. Afterwards he studied journalism and worked as a judge as well as a public prosecutor. Prantl lives together with journalist Franziska Augstein. Karl Prantl (sculptor)
Karl Prantl (November 5, 1923 – October 8, 2010) was an Austrian sculptor. Biography Prantl was born in Pöttsching in the Austrian state Burgenland. He studied from 1946 to 1952 with the painter Albert Paris Gütersloh at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in Vienna. As the stone sculpture, stone sculptor he became he was an autodidactism, autodidact. He was the founder of the International Sculpture Symposium. He held his first international symposium (''Symposion Europaischer Bildhauer'') with 8 participants in the old quarry ''Römersteinbruch'' in Sankt Margarethen im Burgenland. Prantl was invited to exhibit work in the Austrian Pavilion of the Venice Biennale in 1986. Prantl died of a stroke at his home on October 8, 2010, a month before his 87th birthday. Karl von Prantl (aka Carl von Prantl) (28 January 1820 – 14 September 1888) (after 1872: Karl, Ritter von Prantl) was a German philosopher and philologist. Biography He was born at Landsberg on the Lech. In 1843 he became doctor of philosophy at Munich Observatory, where he was made professor in 1859. He was also a member of the Academies of Berlin and Munich. Strongly in agreement with the Hegelian tradition, he defended and amplified it in ''Die gegenwärtige Aufgabe der Philosophie'' (1852) and ''Verstehen und Beurteilen'' (1877). In these works, he emphasized the identity of the subjective and the objective for consciousness, and the fact that the perception of this unity is peculiar to man. He is more important, however, as a commentator and scholar, and made valuable contributions to the study of Aristotle. Karl Anton Eugen Prantl (10 September 1849 – 24 February 1893), also known as Carl Anton Eugen Prantl, was a German botanist. Prantl was born in Munich, Kingdom of Bavaria, and studied in Munich. In 1870 he graduated with the dissertation ''Das Inulin. Ein Beitrag zur Pflanzenphysiologie'' (The inulin, a contribution to the plant physiology). He worked with Carl Wilhelm von Nägeli and Julius Sachs. Gertrude Grob-Prandl
Gertrude Grob-Prandl (11 November 191716 May 1995) was an Austrian Wagnerian soprano. Grob-Prandl was born in Vienna and studied at the Vienna Academy of Music with Singer-Burian. She originally intended to become a piano teacher but the professors at the conservatory began to notice the size of her voice and she was placed in a singing class. Besides size, her voice had a distinctive burnished timbre and a tight, brisk, consistent vibrato. She made her debut in 1939 at the Vienna Volksoper as Santuzza in ''Cavalleria rusticana''. She graduated to heavier roles such as Isolde, Brünnhilde and Turandot. She retired in 1972. Irmgard Seefried once remarked that the "walls shook" when Grob-Prandl sang Turandot. A popular anecdote states that she was once interrupted while performing as Turandot, by fire-fighters. People outside the theater had mistaken her for a fire-alarm siren.
