Pradhana Vizha
Pradhana Vizha is a television award ceremony held in Singapore by MediaCorp Vasantham. It was started to honour rapidly growing Tamil television artists on Mediacorp Vasantham. History Pradhana Vizha first started in 1996 as "Prime 12 Awards" to honor both Malay and Indian artistes, it was later separated into two different award ceremonies. Since then the growth of local Indian television and artistes has helped cultivate Pradhana Vizha, making it a full-fledged annual awards ceremony by 2000, just to coincide with the relaunch of Central with one of its timebelts, Vasantham Central. The ''2014 Pradhana Vizha'' is a television award ceremony held in Singapore by Vasantham TV. The 14th edition of Vasantham's prestigious Awards extravaganza, Pradhana Vizha saw a total of 27 awards being given out to the best in the local Indian television industry in Singapore. The Lifetime Achievement Award were awarded to Manimaran Thorasamy. Vasantham (TV Channel)
Vasantham is a Singaporean free-to-air television channel owned by Mediacorp. The network is focused towards the Singaporean Indian community in the country. It was originally launched on 1 September 1995 as Premiere 12. Tamil programming was included on 30 January 2000 when the channel was rebranded as Central as Vasantham Central, and was later rebranded again as an independent Tamil-language channel on 19 October 2008. Its logo is the blue word "Vasantham" underlined, with the letter V arranged in floral pattern in shades of blue, green and yellow. Central (TV Channel)
Central was a Singaporean English and Tamil language free-to-air television channel. Its programming schedule was composed of three timeshared channels on its frequency slot: Kids Central, Vasantham Central and Arts Central. Previously, Indian-related programming was broadcast along with Malay-language programmes on Prime 12, while Premiere 12's schedule consisted of arts, documentaries and kids shows. MediaCorp Central was closed down on 19 October 2008 when Vasantham Central relaunched as the standalone channel Vasantham. Arts Central and Kids Central were merged into a single channel named okto, with kids and arts programming. Shabir
Shabir Tabare Alam, known professionally as Shabir Sulthan, is a Singaporean singer-songwriter, record producer, music composer, and performer whose works are predominantly in Tamil. He is the winner of the inaugural singing competition Vasantham Star 2005. The talent quest was hosted by MediaCorp Vasantham TV Channel. Shabir's Yaayum song from the film Sagaa became a sleeper hit in India and all around the world. After being part of the 2007 National Day Parade, Shabir felt that there was a lack of Tamil songs representing the community. He wrote and composed "Singai Naadu", the National Day Parade Tamil song in 2012. The song won praise from the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong. Shabir was awarded the Singapore Youth Award, the national honour given to young achievers by the Singapore government.
