Prabhu Ram Sharma
General Prabhu Ram Sharma ( ne, प्रभु राम शर्मा; born 5 January 1964) is the present Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Nepalese Army. He took the oath from the president of Nepal on 9 September 2021. He succeeded General Purna Chandra Thapa. Sharma was born on January 5, 1964 in Kathmandu. He entered into Nepal army in 1984 as a Second Lieutenant in Purano Gorakh Battalion. He has a master’s degree in history from Tribhuwan University and master of philosophy in Defense and Strategic Study from University of Madras. Sharma is married to Sunita Sharma and has two daughters. The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) ( ne, नेपालको प्रधानसेनापति), informally known as Chief Sa'ab ( ne, चिफ सा'ब), is the commander and highest-ranking officer of the Nepalese Armed Forces. The Chief of Army Staff is the Chief of the Nepalese Army and reports to the Ministry of Defense. Bidhya Devi Bhandari
Bidya Devi Bhandari (, ; born 19 June 1961) is a Nepali politician who is serving as the second and current president of Nepal. She formerly served as the minister of defence and minister of environment and population. She is the first woman to hold the office in the country. She served as the vice-chairperson of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) and was the chair of the All Nepal Women's Association before being elected president. Bhandari previously served as the Minister of Defence, the first woman to hold the office, from 2009 to 2011. General Purna Chandra Thapa ( ne, पूर्णचन्द्र थापा; born 9 September 1960) was the Chief of Army Staff in the Nepalese Army until 2021. He served as the Head of Mission and Force Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force from 19 January 2015 until 7 February 2016. Thapa's tenure as COAS of Nepal Army was characterised by many important structural changes. Thapa vowed to get rid of corruption, nepotism and other unlawful activities in the army.
