Prabha Varma
Prabha Varma (born 2 August 1959) is a poet, lyricist, journalist and television presenter. Biography PRABHA VARMA Poet, littérateur, lyricist and editor who works with traditional as well as electronic media, cultural activist – Prabha Varma has been all of these. He has a master's degree and a degree in law. As a poet, Gyanpith award winner Prof. O.N.V. Kurup complimented him saying "He has inherited the subtle poetic richness of the eminent poet Vyloppilly Sreedhara Menon, who himself picked up the quality from Kumaranasan'. The late Prof. M. Krishnan Nair, an eminent critic, wrote 'Prabha Varma is a born poet'. His poems are composed of a confluence of tradition and modernity. Kerala State Film Award For Best Lyrics
The Kerala State Film Award for Best Lyricist is an honour, begun in 1969, presented annually at the Kerala State Film Awards of India to a lyricist for best lyrics in a Malayalam film. Until 1997, the awards were managed directly by the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Government of Kerala. Since 1998, the awards have been constituted by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, an autonomous, non-profit institution functioning under the Department of Cultural Affairs (Kerala). The awardees are decided by an independent jury constituted every year by the government. They are announced by the Minister for Cultural Affairs and are presented by the Chief Minister.The first Kerala State film Awards ceremony was held in 1970 with Vayalar Ramavarma receiving the award for Nadhi and ''Kadalpalam'' (1969). The Malayali people () (also spelt Malayalee and also known by the demonym Keralite) are a Dravidian ethnolinguistic group originating from the present-day state of Kerala in India, occupying its southwestern Malabar coast. They are predominantly native speakers of the Malayalam language, one of the six Classical languages in India. The state of Kerala was created in 1956 through the States Reorganisation Act.
