Prabha Atre (born 13 September 1932) is an Indian classical vocalist from the Kirana gharana. She has been awarded all three of the Padma Awards by the Government of India. Early life and education Atre was born to Abasaheb and Indirabai Atre in Pune. As children, Atre and her sister, Usha, were interested in music, but neither of them planned to pursue music as a career. When Atre was eight, Indirabai was not keeping good health, and at a friend's suggestion that classical music lessons would help her feel better, she took a few lessons. Listening to those lessons inspired Atre to learn classical music. Her music training was in the Guru-shishya tradition. She learnt classical music from Sureshbabu Mane and Hirabai Badodekar from the Kirana gharana. She acknowledges the influence of two other greats, Amir Khan for khyal and Bade Ghulam Ali Khan for thumri, on her gayaki. She also has formal training in Kathak dance style. Prabha Bharti (died 2000s) was a noted Indian qawaali and ghazal singer of the 1960s to the 1990s. She was one of the first women qawwali-singer (qawwal) of India, a form of Sufi devotional music traditionally a reserve of male singers. She is known for her album, "Rang-e-Qawwali" (1978), which features qawaalis, "Chhaap Tilak" and "Mai Ni Mai", besides album, "Prabha Bharti Ghazal & Qawali" with music by Kesar Singh Narula released by Gramophone Company of India (HMV-EMI). Prabha Ranatunge
Prabha Ranatunge (1926-2017), also known as Prabha Perera, was a Sri Lankan radio personality who was the first Sinhala female announcer in Sri Lanka. She joined Radio Ceylon in the 1950s as the first ever woman announcer for the station. After her marriage, she worked as a radio announcer with the name Prabha Ranatunge. Prabha Rau (4 March 1935 – 26 April 2010) was an Indian politician and the Governor of Rajasthan state of India when she died. She was appointed Governor of Rajasthan after she was transferred from Governor of Himachal Pradesh after Urmila Singh took charge on 25 Jan 2010 at Shimla. Initially following the death of previous governor of Rajasthan S.K. Singh, she got additional charge as Governor of Rajasthan along with charge of Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
