	Constantin Poenaru Constantin Poenaru (April 8, 1842–1912) was a Romanian general. Born in Bucharest, Poenaru attended the local officers’ school from 1859 to 1861, followed by the École supérieure de guerre in Paris. A second lieutenant from 1861, he rose to captain in 1867 and to major in 1872, and commanded the military engineers’ battalion from 1872 to 1877. When the Romanian War of Independence broke out in 1877, he saw action during the Siege of Plevna. 	Gheorghe Poenaru Gheorghe Poenaru (born 1 November 1956) is a Romanian former footballer and manager. As a footballer, Poenaru played mainly as a midfielder for Divizia B and Divizia C teams such as Partizanul Bacău, Aripile Bacău or CSM Borzești, all clubs based in his home county, Bacău. Poenaru retired in 1992, and started his managerial career in 1990, as a player-manager at Aripile Bacău. Subsequently, he was one of the most important managers in the history of Petrolul Moinești, team which he promoted at the level of the second tier and maintained it there for next years. As a result, in 1999 he was promoted as manager of Divizia A club, FCM Bacău, club at which he spent most of his career as a manager. 	Petrache Poenaru Metro Station Petrache Poenaru, formerly known as ''Semănătoarea'' is a metro station in Bucharest, Romania, servicing the Bucharest Metro Line M1. It was named after Semănătoarea, an agricultural machinery factory located in the vicinity, but it is now named after Petrache Poenaru, a Romanian inventor of the Enlightenment era. The metro station services both what is left of the factory (that was severely downsized a number of times), part of the Regie student campus located in the vicinity, the Sema Park industrial Park, as well as some newly built residential areas. The station was designed with relatively little traffic in mind; it has a central-track design with two narrow platforms on each side of the tracks. 	Valentin Poénaru Valentin Alexandre Poénaru (born 1932 in Bucharest) is a Romanian–French mathematician. He was a Professor of Mathematics at University of Paris-Sud, specializing in low-dimensional topology. Life and career Born in Bucharest, Romania, he did his undergraduate studies at the University of Bucharest. In 1962, he was an invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Stockholm, Sweden. While at the congress, Poénaru defected, subsequently leaving for France.
