Powerhouse Gym
Powerhouse Gym is made up of more than 200 fitness center owners who are licensed to use the name Powerhouse Gym. History Powerhouse Gym was founded in 1975 by brothers William and Norman Dabish in Highland Park, Michigan. The gym started out as a facility for people in the neighborhood to exercise and soon became a place for professional athletes to train. Some of the athletes who trained were professional boxer Tommy "Hitman" Hearns, professional bodybuilders Samir Bannout and Tom Platz Thomas Steven Platz is an American retired professional bodybuilder. He was known for his leg development, which in his prime measured over 30 inches, earning him the nickname The Quadfather. Highland Park, Michigan
Highland Park is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 8,977 at the 2020 census. Along with its neighbor of Hamtramck, Highland Park is an enclave city surrounded by the city of Detroit. History The area that was to become Highland Park began as a small farming community, on a large ridge at what is now Woodward Avenue and Highland, north of Detroit. In 1818, prominent Detroit judge Augustus B. Woodward bought the ridge, and platted the village of Woodwardville in 1825. The development of the village failed. Another Detroit judge, Benjamin F. H. Witherell, son of Michigan Supreme Court justice James Witherell, attempted to found a village platted as Cassandra on this site in 1836, but this plan also failed. Tommy Hearns
Thomas Hearns (born October 18, 1958) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1977 to 2006. Nicknamed the "Motor City Cobra", and more famously "The Hitman", Hearns's tall, slender build and oversized arms and shoulders allowed him to move up over fifty pounds in his career and become the first boxer in history to win world titles in five weight divisions: welterweight, light middleweight, middleweight, super middleweight and light heavyweight. Hearns was named Fighter of the Year by ''The Ring'' magazine and the Boxing Writers Association of America in 1980 and 1984; the latter following his knockout of Roberto Durán. Samir Bannout
Samir Bannout ( ar, سمير بنّوت) is a Lebanese retired former IFBB professional bodybuilder. Biography Known as "the Lion of Lebanon", Samir Bannout won the Mr. Olympia title in 1983. Bannout has appeared on the covers of many fitness and bodybuilding publications, including ''Strength and Health'', ''MuscleMag International'', ''Muscle Digest'', ''Flex'', ''Muscle Training Illustrated'', ''Muscle and Fitness'', ''Muscle Up'', ''IronMan'' and ''Muscular Development'' magazines. Samir Bannout left his native Lebanon and emigrated to America where he first moved to Detroit, Michigan. Thomas Steven Platz is an American retired professional bodybuilder. He was known for his leg development, which in his prime measured over 30 inches, earning him the nickname The Quadfather. Platz was part of Vince McMahon's short-lived World Bodybuilding Federation (WBF).
