Potcoava
Potcoava is a town in Olt County, Muntenia, Romania. The town administers four villages: Potcoava-Fălcoeni, Sinești, Trufinești and Valea Merilor. The town is located in the northeastern part of the county, east of the county seat, Slatina. At the 2011 census, Potcoava had a population of 5,743 people. Of those, 87.65% were Romanians and 7.23% Roma. Olt County
Olt County () is a county ( județ) of Romania on the border with Bulgaria, in the historical regions of Oltenia and Muntenia (the regions are separated by the Olt river). The capital city is Slatina. History On 24 August 2017, the Olt County Council decided to hold a name referendum on 15 October 2017 for the proposal to change the county name to "Olt- Romanați". The referendum was eventually held on 6 and 7 October 2018. The vote was nullified, as turnout was 27.19%, below the required threshold of 30%; therefore, the Olt County retains its current name. Lina Ciobanu
Lina Ciobanu (born 22 March 1929) was a Romanian communist politician. Ciobanu was born in Potcoava, a town in Olt County, the daughter of Gheorghe Năstase and Maria, née Gheorghe. In 1946 she moved to Bucharest, where she worked at a printing house and then at a textile factory, and married Ion Ciobanu. From 1957 to 1960 she was trained by the Romanian Communist Party (PCR) at the Ștefan Gheorghiu Academy and in 1965 she graduated from the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies. In 1965 she became an alternate member of the Central Committee of the PCR, and from 1969 to 1989 she was a full member of the committee. Ciobanu served as Minister of Light Industry from 1975 to 1987, and became a Member of the Politburo in 1977. From 1985 to 1989 she served as deputy for Pașcani in the Great National Assembly and from 1987 to 1989 she was Vice-President of the Council of Ministers. Slatina (, bg, Слатина) is the capital city of Olt County, Romania, on the river Olt. It is located in the south of Romania, on the eastern side of the river Olt, in the historical region of Muntenia. The population was 70,293 in 2011; the urban area has around 85,000 inhabitants. It is an important industrial center. The city administers one village, Cireașov.
