The Portuguese Rugby Federation ( pt, Federação Portuguesa de Rugby) is the governing body for rugby union in Portugal. It was founded in 1926 and became affiliated to the International Rugby Board in 1988. Rugby Europe
Rugby Europe is the administrative body for rugby union in Europe. It was formed in 1999 to promote, develop, organise, and administer the game of rugby in Europe under the authority of World Rugby (the sport's global governing body). However, it is not responsible for the organisation of the Six Nations Championship or the competitions run by European Professional Club Rugby (the European Rugby Champions Cup and Challenge Cup). The predecessor to Rugby Europe was the Fédération Internationale de Rugby Amateur (FIRA), which was established in 1934 to administer rugby union in Europe outside the authority of the International Rugby Football Board (as World Rugby was then called), and came to spread outside the continent. Patrice Lagisquet
Patrice Lagisquet (born 4 September 1962) is a former French rugby union footballer and a current coach. He played as a wing. He was nicknamed "The Bayonne Express". Lagisquet was born in Arcachon. He first played at U.A. Gujan-Mestras, until moving to CA Bègles, where he played from 1980/81 to 1981/82. Then, he would represent Aviron Bayonnais, from 1982/83 to 1991/92, and Biarritz Olympique, from 1992/93 to 1996/97, where he would finish his career. He made his international debut against Australia on 13 November 1983 at the Parc des Sports Marcel Michelin in Clermont Ferrand. France leading 9–6 at half time eventually drew the game 15-15. The Portugal national rugby union team (Portuguese: Seleção Portuguesa de Rugby), nicknamed Os Lobos (''The Wolves''), represents Portugal in men's international rugby union competitions. The Portugal national rugby sevens team played for the first time in 1992, at the Catania Sevens, World Cup 1993 European Qualifier. The team plays in competitions such as the World Sevens Series, the European Sevens Grand Prix Series and the Rugby World Cup Sevens. Portugal has a record of eight European titles—in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2011—although Portugal has not made the semifinals since 2012.
