Portugal At The 2018 Winter Olympics
Portugal competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, from 9 to 25 February 2018. Portugal's team consisted of two male athletes competing across two sports. Competitors The following is the list of number of competitors participating in the Portuguese delegation per sport. Alpine skiing Portugal qualified one male athlete. Cross-country skiing Portugal qualified one male athlete. Lam is Canadian-Portuguese and was born in Macau, at the time under the control of Portugal giving him Portuguese citizenship. Lam grew up in Canada from an early age, and pursued competing for Canada in snowboarding until 2013 when he suffered an injury. Flag Of Portugal
The national flag of Portugal ( pt, Bandeira de Portugal) is a rectangular bicolour with a field divided into green on the hoist, and red on the fly. The lesser version of the national coat of arms of Portugal ( armillary sphere and Portuguese shield) is centered over the colour boundary at equal distance from the upper and lower edges. Its presentation was done on 1 December 1910, after the downfall of the constitutional monarchy on 5 October 1910. However, it was only on 30 June 1911, that the official decree approving this flag as the official flag was published. This new national flag of the First Portuguese Republic, was selected by a special commission whose members included Columbano Bordalo Pinheiro, João Chagas and Abel Botelho. Arthur Hanse (born 10 February 1993 in Paris, France) is an alpine skier competing for Portugal. He competed for Portugal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in the slalom and giant slalom. Hanse is the son of emigrants from Portugal who now live in France, which allows him to compete for the country. The men's 15 kilometre freestyle cross-country skiing competition at the 2018 Winter Olympics was held on 16 February 2018 at 15:00 KST at the Alpensia Cross-Country Skiing Centre in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The ''Fédération internationale de ski et de snowboard'' (FIS; en, International Ski and Snowboard Federation) is the highest international governing body for skiing and snowboarding. Founded on 2 February 1924 in Chamonix, France during the inaugural Winter Olympic Games, the FIS is responsible for the Olympic disciplines of Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, Nordic combined, freestyle skiing, and snowboarding.
