Portland Pythons
Portland Pythons are a defunct indoor soccer team that played in the Premier Soccer Alliance (PSA) in 1998 which changed its name to the World Indoor Soccer League (WISL) in 1999. The team folded at the end of the 1999 season. History In 1997, the Continental Indoor Soccer League (CISL) folded after five seasons. The CISL had been founded as a summer indoor soccer league in 1993. Although it had experienced some success in its early years, it barely made it through the 1997 season before folding. The Portland Pride was a charter member of the CISL and with the collapse of the league, the team’s ownership, Portland Professional Soccer, LLC, joined with several other CISL teams to form the Premier Soccer Alliance (PSA). With the new league came a new name as the Pride adopted the name Portland Pythons. The Pythons performed poorly in the PSA’s first season. The team went 1–6 and failed to make the playoffs. Rose Garden Arena
Moda Center, formerly known as the Rose Garden, is the primary indoor sports arena in Portland, Oregon, United States. It is used for basketball, ice hockey, rodeos, circuses, conventions, ice shows, concerts, and dramatic productions. The arena has a capacity of 19,393 spectators when configured for basketball. It is equipped with state-of-the-art acoustics and other amenities. The arena is owned by Vulcan Inc., a holding company owned by the estate of Paul Allen. The primary tenant is the Portland Trail Blazers NBA franchise, also owned by Allen's estate. Billy Crook (American Soccer)
Billy Crook (born April 3, 1964) is a former U.S. soccer defender who spent two seasons in the North American Soccer League, eight in Major Indoor Soccer League, two in the Western Soccer Alliance, at least two in the Continental Indoor Soccer League, and four in the American Professional Soccer League. He also earned one cap with the U.S. national team. He currently coaches youth soccer in Sumner, Washington. Professional career Crook was born in Kent, Washington and has 7 siblings, Charlie Crook, Ronald Crook, Robert Crook, Brent Crook, Jennette Crook, Joell Crook and Jody Crook. He attended Kent-Meridian High School, graduating in 1982. That year, the Seattle Sounders of the North American Soccer League (NASL) drafted Crook and he bypassed college to turn professional. Jeff Betts (born March 8, 1970 in Charles City, Iowa) is an American former soccer forward and coach who spent most of his career playing indoor soccer. He was a three time All Star and the 2000 World Indoor Soccer League Coach of the Year. College Betts began his collegiate soccer career at San Diego State University in 1988. In 1989, he led the team in scoring with 32 points on 10 goals and 12 assists. The 12 assists remains a San Diego single season record. He appears to have taken a year off from school before finishing his collegiate career with two seasons at the University of Portland in 1991 and 1992. He graduated in 1993.
