Port Road, Kollam
Kollam Port Road or Port Road, Kollam is a four lane road in the city of Kollam, India. The road connects historic Port of Quilon'' (Kollam Port)'' and Vaddy with Kochupilamoodu in the city through Kollam Beach. History A detailed plan for constructing a four lane road to connect century-old Port of Quilon with Kollam city was first suggested by P. K. Gurudasan, the then Labour minister of Kerala state, in 2007. V. S. Achuthanandan lead Left Democratic Front (Kerala), LDF ministry had sanctioned fund in 2009-2010 Kerala budget, to take over 71.5 cents of land from Kochupilammoodu bridge road to the Port road from private parties and also sanctioned Rs.2.43 crore for road construction works. Kollam
Kollam (;), is an ancient seaport and the List of cities and towns in Kerala, fourth largest city in the Indian state of Kerala. National Highway 66 (India)
National Highway 66, commonly referred to as NH 66 (erstwhile NH-17 and a part of NH-47), is a mostly 4 lane 1640 km (1020 miles) long busy National Highway (India), National Highway that runs roughly north–south along the western coast of India, parallel to the western ghats, Western Ghats. It connects Panvel, a city east of Mumbai (Bombay) to Cape Comorin (Kanyakumari) via Mangalore, passing through the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Kollam Canal
Kollam Canal or Quilon Canal or Kollam Thodu is a 7.7 km long canal system passing through the city of Kollam, India. It is a part of National Waterway-3 and 78 km long Kollam-Trivandrum (Kovalam) State waterway project. History The Kollam canal was built on 1880 and is a bustling part of 560 km long Thiruvananthapuram–Shoranur canal(TS Canal) waterway project, also used as a means for transport of both people and goods, as an avenue for leisure and the water even used for irrigation and drinking. Kavanad is a suburban area of Kollam Municipal Corporation in Kerala. It is a major market town located at the northern suburb of Kollam City in India. It is coming under Sakthikulangara zone of Kollam Municipal Corporation. It is just 3 km from the port town of Neendakara. The West Coast Canal or National Waterway No 3 is a long inland navigational route located in Kerala, India, which runs from Kollam to Kottapuram. It was declared a National Waterway in 1993. In addition to the main stretch, Champakara and Udyogmandal canals are navigable and connect the industrial centers of Kochi to Kochi port Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) under the Ministry of Shipping is coordinating the task for developing, monitoring and administering national waterways. National Highway 744 or NH 744 (earlier NH 208) is a National Highway in Southern India that links Kollam ( Quilon) in Kerala with Madurai in Tamil Nadu. Starting from NH 66 at Chinnakkada in Kollam, it joins Tirumangalam in Madurai at National Highway 44 (India). Tangasseri Bus Terminal or Tangasseri Bus Bay is a bus station in the city of Kollam, India. The bus terminal is opened on 6 September 2014 by Prasanna Earnest, the then Mayor of Kollam city. History The intention behind the bus terminal project was to cater the seaside enclave, Tangasseri, with a safe and comfortable way of transportation. Tangasseri witnesses heavy traffic congestion during the morning and evening peak hours because of the hundreds of vehicles reaching there to drop students to the two leading schools in the city, Infant Jesus School and Mount Carmel School. Kadannappalli Ramachandran
Kadannappalli Ramachandran (born 1 July 1944) is an Indian politician who is serving as the Minister for Ports, Museums, Archaeology and Archives of Kerala since December 2023. He previously held the same position from 2016 to 2021. Ramachandran also served as the Minister for Devaswom of Kerala from 2009 to 2011. He is a Member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly representing Kannur since 2016. Prior to that, he represented Edakkad from 2006 to 2011, and Irikkur from 1980 to 1982 in the Kerala Legislative Assembly.
