Port Discovery (Tokyo DisneySea)
Port Discovery is a "port-of-call" (themed land) at Tokyo DisneySea in the Tokyo Disney Resort. It represents a "marina of the future". Theming Port Discovery is themed after a fictional 1940s scientific research centre. The area is home to two fictional societies, 'Center for Weather Control,' and later the 'Marine Life Institute' from Pixar's Finding Dory. Tokyo DisneySea
is a theme park at the Tokyo Disney Resort located in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, just next to Tokyo. It opened on 4 September 2001, at a cost of 335 billion yen. The Oriental Land Company owns the park, and licenses intellectual property from The Walt Disney Company. As of 2019, Tokyo DisneySea is the fourth-most visited theme park in the world and the second-most visited in Japan behind its sister park Tokyo Disneyland. History Plans for a second Disney park in Tokyo were first conceived in 1987. Initially, these plans included a park similar to Disney's Hollywood Studios (then Disney-MGM Studios), to be called Disney Hollywood Studio Theme Park at Tokyo Disneyland. Tokyo Disney Resort
The (local nickname ''TDR'') is a theme park and vacation resort located in Urayasu, Chiba, Japan, just east of Tokyo. The resort is fully owned and operated by The Oriental Land Company under a licence from The Walt Disney Company, who constructed and designed the resort and its various attractions. The resort opened on April 15, 1983, as a single theme park (Tokyo Disneyland), later developing into a resort with a second theme park (Tokyo DisneySea), five Disney hotels, six non-Disney hotels and a shopping complex (Ikspiari). Aquatopia
Aquatopia is an attraction at Tokyo DisneySea theme park at the Tokyo Disney Resort in Chiba, Japan. Located in the Port Discovery area of the park, it is the second attraction to use a trackless ride system designed by Walt Disney Imagineering (the first being Pooh's Hunny Hunt at neighboring park Tokyo Disneyland). The trackless ride system uses computers to guide the vehicles throughout the ride. StormRider
StormRider was a simulator ride at Tokyo DisneySea. It simulated going into a storm in a futuristic aircraft (a "StormRider") to dissipate it. The attraction opened on September 4th, 2001, in the Port Discovery land of Tokyo DisneySea. The attraction closed on May 17th, 2016, and was replaced by a new Finding Nemo/Finding Dory simulator ride called Nemo & Friends SeaRider.
