Poronay
The Poronay (russian: Поронай, ja, 幌内川) is the longest river on the island of Sakhalin in Russia. It flows in a southerly direction through Tym, Smirnykhovsky and Poronaysky Districts. Geography The river begins on Mt. Nevel in the East Sakhalin Mountains, flows south through the swampy wetlands of the Tym-Poronay Valley, and enters the Sea of Okhotsk in the Gulf of Patience. before it enters the sea, the river divides into two arms, which flow into the sea apart from each other. The two branches create a marshy river island in the middle. The town of Poronaysk is located near the western mouth of the river. The Poronay is crossed by only two bridges, one rail and one road bridge. Both bridges are next to each other, in the middle of the river between the towns of Pobedino and Pervomaysk. Poronaysk
Poronaysk (russian: Порона́йск; ja, 敷香町 ''Shisuka-chō''; Ainu: ''Sistukari'' or ''Sisi Tukari'') is a town and the administrative center of Poronaysky District of Sakhalin Oblast, Russia, located on the Poronay River north of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Population: History It was founded in 1869 as a Russian outpost Tikhmenevsky near the Nivkh and Ainu settlements in the area. The Treaty of Portsmouth transferred it to Japanese control along with the rest of the southern half of the island of Sakhalin. Gulf Of Patience
Gulf of Patience is a large body of water off the southeastern coast of Sakhalin, Russia. Geography The Gulf of Patience is located in the southern Sea of Okhotsk, between the main body of Sakhalin Island in the west and Cape Patience in the east. The Poronay River flows into the bay from the north. The Tyuleny Island lies off the eastern side of the bay to the south of Cape Patience. History The first Europeans visited the bay in 1643. Tym (Sakhalin)
The Tym (russian: Тымь) is a river on the island of Sakhalin, Russia, and the second longest river on the island after the Poronay. It is long, and has a drainage basin of . The name of the river is translated from Nivkh as "spawning river." The river flows through Tymovsky and Nogliki Districts of Sakhalin Oblast. It begins on the southern slopes of Mount Lopatin in the East Sakhalin Mountains, flows through swampy lowlands in the Tym-Poronaiskaya Valley, and finally flows into Nyisky Bay in the Sea of Okhotsk. The villages of Tymovskoye and Nogliki are located beside the river. The river is mostly fed by snowmelt. River Flow
Streamflow, or channel runoff, is the flow of water in streams and other channels, and is a major element of the water cycle. Amur Pike
The Amur pike (''Esox reichertii''), also known as the blackspotted pike, is a pike native to the Amur River system in east Asia, as well as freshwater habitat on the island of Sakhalin. Closely related to the northern pike, it reaches a length of , a weight of , sporting a silvery body with small, black spots. Like other pike, this species is prized for sport fishing. It is not commonly found outside its native range. However, it was introduced to Glendale Lake, Cambria County, Pennsylvania (United States), by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) in 1968. The lake is just south of the native range of the northern pike. Pure Amur pike were last spawned in 1971. All of the Pennsylvania Fish Commission's brood stock was lost in the summer of 1976.
