Popular Autonomists
The Popular Autonomists ( it, Autonomisti Popolari, AP) are regionalist, autonomist and Christian-democratic political party in Trentino, Italy. The party was formed in 2017 by Walter Kaswalder, after his ejection from the Trentino Tyrolean Autonomist Party. In the 2018 provincial election, the AP were part of the autonomist centre-right coalition, led by Maurizio Fugatti Maurizio Fugatti (born 7 April 1972) is an Italian politician from the League party. He was a member of the Chamber of Deputies 2006–2013 and again 2018–2019. Trentino Tyrolean Autonomist Party
The Trentino Tyrolean Autonomist Party ( it, Partito Autonomista Trentino Tirolese, PATT) is a regionalist, autonomist, Christian-democratic and centrist political party in Trentino, Italy. The PATT is the unofficial counterpart of the South Tyrolean People's Party (SVP), active in South Tyrol. The two are members of the European People's Party (EPP) and have contested together several general and European Parliament elections. Simone Marchiori is the party's current secretary, Franco Panizza its president. Ugo Rossi, a former leader, was the President of Trentino in 2013–2018. Marchiori, Panizza and Rossi are centrists and long supported the Centre-left coalition with the Democratic Party and the Union for Trentino (PATT's coalition partners since 2002). Trentino Project ( it, Progetto Trentino, PT) is a regionalist and Christian-democratic political party in Trentino, Italy. History PT was formed in July 2012 as a split, led by former regional minister Silvano Grisenti, from the Union for Trentino (UpT). In the 2013 provincial election the party supported Diego Mosna, entrepreneur and president of Trentino Volley, for president of Trentino. Mosna was endorsed also by the Trentino Civic List, Stop the Decline, Administer Trentino, Together for Autonomy and Autonomy 2020. Mosna won a 19.3% of the vote, coming a very distant second from Ugo Rossi of the Trentino Tyrolean Autonomist Party, who was supported by the autonomist/centre-left coalition and garnered a landslide 58.1%. The 2023 Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol provincial elections took place on 22 October 2023. It determined two seats out of 21 in the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces. Background Since the 2018 Italian general election, many changes started to occur in the Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol political landscape. For the first time since the 1996 Italian general election, the centre-right coalition managed to defeat the centre-left coalition in Trentino in a general election.
